The Switzerland County High School Pacer baseball team continued its conference season on Saturday by splitting a doubleheader with Madison Shawe.
In the first game, the Hilltoppers won by a score of 5-4.
Hits were collected for Switzerland County by Brandon Otter, Danny Schira, Zach Osowski, Travis Tackett, Jordan Hewitt, Codey Turner, and Justin Barnes; while Jordan Hewitt also scored two runs and Travis Tackett and Tyler Johnson scored one run each.
Brandon Otter, Codey Turner, and Justin Barnes each had an RBI.
On the mound, Zach Osowski went five innings, allowing no earned runs, striking out three, and walking three. Ryan Peters pitched one inning, striking out three.
In the second game, Switzerland County rebounded to post an 8-7 win.
Zach Osowski had three hits including a double; and he also scored twice and had three RBI.
Brandon Otter pitched one inning and allowed two earned runs and three walks while striking out one; and Ryan Peters pitched six innings, striking out five while allowing just one earned run.
“It was a disappointing day, we were lucky to split,” Coach Shannon Barger said. “Our defense was awful, our plate discipline was bad, and our enthusiasm was nonexistent.”
The Pacers are in action again tomorrow (Friday) night when they travel to Seymour to take on the Owls. It will be a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Seymour winning the state championship – and Pacer coach Shannon Barger was a member of that team.
