Pacers place four in double figures in claiming 66-47 win over Shiners

Last Friday night the Switzerland County Pacers earned a win over one of their Ohio River rivals – the Rising Sun Shiners – by a final score of 66-47.

Switzerland County got off to a fast start, getting baskets from Travis Webster and Cliff Meyer before the Shiners were able to connect on a basket. Both teams went back and forth from there, with Switzerland County moving out to various leads throughout the opening period, but each time the Shiners responded to keep things close.

The first quarter ended with Switzerland County clinging to a 14-10 advantage.

In the second quarter the Pacers once again took control of scoring on a Kyle Green bucket and a T.J. Sefton three-pointer. Switzerland County kept the pressure up throughout the second stanza, and some timely shooting throughout the period allowed the Pacers expand their lead to 12 points; heading to the locker room with a 32-20 lead.

Rising Sun came out of the locker room with determination to get back in the game as the second half got underway, getting a quick three-point basket; but Switzerland County’s Travis Webster doused any hope of a Shiner comeback as he connected on two baskets back to back to expand the lead.

Scoring in the third quarter was close as the Pacers only outscoring the Shiners by one, 15-14; but it was enough for the Pacers to remain in control of the game with a period to play, 47-34.

Cliff Meyer opened the fourth quarter scoring, and T.J. Sefton followed that with a traditional three point play. Aaron Moore followed that with a basket before the Rising Sun team was able to get a shot off against the Pacers defense in the first three minutes of the quarter.

The Shiners were able to bounce back after a slow start to the final quarter, accumulating 13 points to finish the game with 47 points – but that was the same score that the Pacers had at the end of the third quarter.

Scoring in the final period for the Pacers were Cliff Meyer, Jordan Hinman, and Travis Webster. Kyle Green also had a basket and one at the line; while T.J. Sefton buried a three-pointer to finished off the game with a 66-47 score.

The Pacers were led by Travis Webster with 16 points, three rebounds and four steals. Cliff Meyer had 13 points and seven rebounds; and Kyle Green finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. T.J. Sefton had 11 points; while Mark Sharp contributed seven points and had six rebounds. Aaron Moore and Jordan Hinman finished with four points each.

The jayvee Pacer team had a close game against the Shiners, but came on at the end to claim a 45-37 victory.

With two minutes left in the fourth quarter they were trailing by one point, 37-36; but Ryan Peters was then sent to the foul line and connected on both baskets to take the lead for the Pacers; and it Rising Sun would not score again as Switzerland County scored the final nine points of the game to get the 45-37 win.

Leading the team in scoring was Ryan Peters with 14 points, three rebounds and three steals; while Devon Armstrong finished with 11 points and three steals. Justin Reagan had eight points and five rebounds; Brandon Otter had five points and three rebounds; and Tyler Johnson and Kameron Pavy finished with two points each, Kameron Pavy also had four rebounds.
