Pacers open football Sectional on the road

The Switzerland County Pacers will truly be road warriors when they enter the IHSAA football sectional tournament.

The Pacers are at the very top of the bracket, meaning that Coach Ryan Jesop’s charges will open on the road against the Eastern (Pekin) Musketeers on Friday night, October 20th.

If Switzerland County wins that game, chances are good that the Pacers will host the second round game. The Pacers would play the winner of the Clarksville (0-7) versus Paoli (5-2) game, which is being played at Paoli on October 20th. Should the Rams win that game, then Paoli would travel to Switzerland County on Friday, October 27th for the semifinal round. IHSAA rules state that if the visiting team wins its first round game and then plays a team that hosted its previous game, then the visiting team becomes the home team.

The bottom part of the bracket has Providence (4-3) playing at Perry Central (3-4) and Crawford County (1-5) playing at Mitchell (5-2) on opening night.

The winners from the October 27th games will then play for the Sectional title on Friday, November 3rd, with the site of that game being determined following semifinals by going to the same rules.
