Pacers honored by conference

The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its “Top Performers” and “Players of the Week” for the time period of December 13th-18th, and Switzerland County has players included in the listings.

In girls basketball, Lady Pacer Hayley South was honored as a “Top Performer”.

She earned the honor by scoring 17 points, pulling down six rebounds, making three steals and contributing an assist in the Switzerland County game against South Ripley.

Other conference players honored as “Top Performers” include: Jessica Foster and Kasey King of South Ripley; Hailee Sizemore, Meagan Hughes, and Alyssa Hammond of Jac-Cen-Del; and Kelsey Jones of Southwestern.

Brandi Ponder of Southwestern was honored as the conference’s “Player of the Week”.

In statistical leaders for girls basketball:

– Hayley South is fourth in the conference in scoring with an average of 14.1 points per game; is fourth in the ORVC in rebounding with an average of 7.8 per game; and leads the conference in field goal percentage at .530.

– Kristen Perry is eighth in the conference in scoring with an average of 10.1 points per game; and is also eighth in the conference in rebounding with an average of 6.9 per game.

– Kelly Kincaid is tied for ninth in scoring with an average of 8.6 points per game; is sixth in assists with 22; and is sixth in the number of three-point field goals made with 10

– Trisha Smith is tied for ninth in scoring with an average of 8.6 points per game; is 10th in the league in rebounding with an average of 6.3 per game; and is second in the conference in field goal percentage at .528.

– Becca Sittloh is tied for eighth in the conference in the number of three-point field goals made with six; and is 10th in the ORVC in assists with 19.

In boys basketball, senior Pacer Adam Clark was honored as a “Top Performer”.

He earned the honor by scoring 16 points and grabbing eight rebounds in a two-game span.

Others honored included: Jake Willhite, Kreigh Liggett, and Nathan Hannan of Rising Sun; Jerad Walters, Jon Grossman, and Brandon Sizemore of South Ripley; Derek Lunsford and Matt Speer of Jac-Cen-Del; Michael Kring of Madison Shawe; and Nick Ryan and Kurtis Kimla of Milan.

Nico Mingione of Madison Shawe was honored as the “Player of the Week”.

In statistical leaders for boys basketball:

- Keegan Kincaid is second in the ORVC in scoring with an average of 19 points per game; is second in freethrow percentage at .880; and leads the conference in the number of three-pointers made with 18.

– Adam Clark is fifth in the conference in rebounding with an average of 6.1 per game; and is sixth in field goal percentage at .480.

- Trevor Smith is fifth in the conference in assists with 19.

- Tyler Queen is seventh in the league in the number of three-point field goals made with 10.
