The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its list of “Players of the Week” and “Top Performers” for the week of May 12th-17th, and as the spring sports season winds down, members of the Switzerland County baseball teams have been honored.
Senior Ryan Peters and junior Zach Osowski have both been honored as “Top Performers” for the week.
Ryan Peters was honored for pitching 10 innings and striking out nine and allowing only two earned runs in a win during the week.
Zach Osowski was honored for pitching 11 innings during the week, striking out eight and picking up a win; and also for going 6-for-12 at the plate with two doubles, a home run and six RBI.
Other players honored as “Top Performers” included: Chris Walker, Derek Walker, and Brian Marksberry of Milan; Tyler Banschbach and Myles Hornsby of Rising Sun; Brandon Gehl and David Busch of Jac-Cen-Del; and Kyle Patrick, B.J. Sieverding, and Chase Grider of South Ripley.
Zach Simon of Jac-Cen-Del was named the conference’s “Player of the Week”.

With baseball and golf left, Switzerland County is leading in the race for the ORVC All Sports trophy.
The Pacers currently have 45 points; followed by South Ripley with 40; Rising Sun with 38; Jac-Cen-Del with 36; Southwestern with 33; Madison Shawe with 16; and Milan with 14.
The girls All Sports race is finished, and Southwestern won the title with 48 points, edging out second place Milan, who finished with 47.
Jac-Cen-Del was third with 43; followed by Rising Sun with 42; Switzerland County with 39; South Ripley with 38; and Madison Shawe with 21.
