Pacers honored as ‘Top Performers’ by ORVC

The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its “Top Performers” and “Players of the Week” for the time period of May 19th-24th, and Switzerland County players are among those honored.

– In baseball, Pacer Danny Schira was honored as a “Top Performer”.

He earned the honor by going 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, recording a stolen base, scoring a run, and knocking in an RBI in a game.

Other conference players honored as “Top Performers” included: Chris Walker and Derek Walker of Milan; Tyler Banschbach of Rising Sun; and Brandon Gehl and Eric Horan of Jac-Cen-Del.

Shane Adams of Jac-Cen-Del was honored as the “Player of the Week”.

– In boys golf, Pacer Tanner Ross was honored as a “Top Performer”.

He earned the honor by shooting a 48 at Grand Victoria.

Other players named “Top Performers” included: Bryan Peters and Zach Schmidt of Milan; Mike Lovern of Rising Sun; and Vinny Bottomly and Deuce Wall of Madison Shawe.

Jared Rogers of South Ripley and Nick Hall of Madison Shawe shared “Player of the Week” honors.

The race for the All Sports Trophy for the boys has gotten very interesting, as Switzerland County continues to hold a narrow lead over second place South Ripley, 55-54.

With only the conference golf meet left to be played tomorrow (Friday) at Hoosier Links, it appears that whichever school finishes above the other will win the All Sports trophy, as well.

Jac-Cen-Del currently sits third in the All Sports standings, followed by Rising Sun, Southwestern, Milan, and Madison Shawe.
