The Switzerland County Pacer varsity boys soccer team was in action on Tuesday night against South Ripley, and after a hard fought contest, Switzerland County lost in a shoot out by a score of 2-1.

Having faced several adversities already this season, the Pacers entered Tuesday night’s game determined to put those adversities behind them.

Senior Jordan Hewitt, recently out with an injury to his hand, resumed his place for the team guarding the net – and didn’t allow a single ball past him in regulation time.

The defense and midfield also did their part by controlling the center of the field.

By the end of the 80 minutes the score was 0-0.

New rules sent both teams to a shoot-out immediately following regulation time, and after all five of the Pacer players had taken their penalty kicks, the score was tied at 1-1.

The game would be decided on the last shot from South Ripley, who put the ball in the back of the net – making the final score 2-1.
