Pacers fall to ND

in home finale

  The home slate of games for the Switzerland County Pacer varsity football team came to a close last Friday night with a loss to the North Decatur Chargers.

  North Decatur scored 35 points in the first quarter to pull away quickly and never look back in lowering the Switzerland County overall record to 4-4.

  The win moved the Charger record to 8-0 overall, as the team is ranked #4 in Class 1A.

  The big first quarter saw North Decatur score of a 26-yard pass; a 24-yard pass; a 24-yard run and a six-yard run, with the PAT being good on all four touchdowns. The Chargers also returned a blocked kick for a touchdown.

  In the second quarter, North Decatur scored two more touchdowns, this time off of a seven-yard pass and then a 69-yard pass — making the halftime score 49-0 in favor of the visitors.

  North Decatur scored its final touchdown of the game in the third quarter on a 13-yard run.

  Switzerland County quarterback Matt Davis was 2-for-8 passing for eight yards and an interception; while on the ground Tyler Hoskins had 13 carries for 84 yards, including a 40-yard run.

  Keaton Mosley had two receptions for all eight passing yards.

  Defensively: Alex Bailey had four tackles; while Davis contributed three tackles.

  Hoskins had three tackles and two tackle assists; Gabe Rose had two tackles and two tackle assists; Darion Graham contributed two tackles and one tackle assist; and Colton Parks had two tackles and two tackle assists.

  Ethan Weaver had two tackles and one tackle for loss; Mosley had a tackle and three tackle assists; Hunter Smith had one tackle and four tackle assists; Sam Dresselhaus had a tackle; Gabe Jackson had four tackle assists; and Brevon May, Canaan Johnson, and Matthew Young each contributed a tackle assist.

  Hoskins and Mosley each had an interception in the game.

  The Pacers now wrap up their regular season tomorrow (Friday) night as they travel to Milan to take on the Indians. Milan comes into the game with a record of 3-5, having lost their last two games.

  The Pacers and the Indians do not have any common opponents, but Milan will play South Decatur in the opening round of Sectional play. Switzerland County defeated South Decatur by a score of 33-7 on September 30th.
