After a 5-0 loss to the Madison Cubs at home on Wednesday, September 28th, the Switzerland County Middle School soccer team hosted its final home game of the season versus the Shawe Hilltoppers on Friday, September 30th.
All eighth grade team members were recognized and started for the game: forwards Rachel Ard, Nolan Armstrong, and Anna Lockwood; midfielders Bre Braun and Jade Mullins; fullbacks Samantha Christerson and Dawn Devers; and goalkeeper Brenden Despres. Kristen Rose was absent from the game.
The Pacers defense was on top of its game throughout the match, with all players working hard to keep possession of the ball. In the first half each team scored one goal, with Rachel Ard scoring the Switzerland County goal with an assist by Jade Mullins and Melissa Furnish.
In the second half the Pacer defense denied Madison Shawe any additional goals, and offense kept up the pressure with repeated shots on the Hilltoppers’ goal.
The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
