The Switzerland County Pacers boys varsity basketball team earned two big wins over the weekend, and now prep for back-to-back road games tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday.
Clarksville
Switzerland County started off the weekend with a long, cold bus ride to Clarksville to take on the Generals — and the cold weather didn’t cool off the Pacer offense, as the visitors returned home with a 74-35 victory.
The 74 point total was Switzerland County’s biggest offensive output of the young season; and the high scoring started early, as the Pacers posted 18 points in the opening quarter while limiting their hosts to just eight.
Cam Craig, on a march towards being Switzerland County’s all time leading scorer, was hot early, scoring nine points in the first on a three-pointer, a field goal, and four freethrows. Cooper Todd had five points on a field goal and a three-pointer; and Isaac Williams contributed a pair of field goals.
Things didn’t get much better in the second period, with the Pacers putting up 20 more points while Clarksville again had eight points in the quarter.
Balance was the key to the Switzerland County offense in the second, as five different players scored, led by Cam Craig with five on a three-pointer and two freethrows.
Mason Peelman also had five points on a three-pointer and a field gaol; Carson Griffith had two field goals for four points; Isaac Williams had three points on three-pointer; and Todd added his second trey of the night for three points.
At the half, Switzerland County led 38-16.
If the second quarter was one of the biggest offensive outputs on the year, the third period for the Pacers topped it, as the visitors would score 21 points coming out of the halftime break.
Cam Craig kept things rolling, hitting two three-pointer and adding a field goal for eight points; and Griffith converted a three-pointer and added a field goal for five.
Isaac Williams had four points on two freethrows and a field goal; and Todd and Peelman each contributed buckets in the quarter.
The Generals had 14 points in the third, but the two teams headed into the final eight minutes of play with Switzerland County firmly in control, 59-30.
In the final eight minutes, the Pacer hot shooting continued, as Peelman had three field goals for six points; Cam Craig had two more buckets for four points; Griffith made a three-pointer; and Corbin Craig added a basket.
At the final buzzer, Switzerland County was on top by a score of 74-35.
Cam Craig led all scorers with 26 points in the game, and he also contributed 11 rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
Peelman had 13 points, five assists, two rebounds and a steal; while Carson Griffith had 12 points and five assists on the night, and also chipped in two rebounds and a steal.
Isaac Williams finished with 11 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Todd had 10 points to make it five Pacers in double figures, as he had 10 points, four rebounds, five assists and six steals.
Clarksville was led by Ray McClendon with nine points and Lachlan Wacker added eight.

In Friday night’s junior varsity game, Clarksville won by a final score of 37-31.
Corbin Craig was hot from the outside in the game, converting four three-pointers and finishing with 13 points overall.
Caleb Byrd had seven points; the trio of Madden Peelman, Austin Johns, and Luke Sullivan each had three points; and Isaiah Dayadharum contributed two points.
Trimble County
Saturday night was ‘Throwback Night’ at Switzerland County, with the junior varsity and varsity games being played at the Old Gym.
An air of tension hung over the gym during both games, and after maneuvering through some physical play and technical fouls, the resilient Pacer squad raced out to an early lead and never looked back, battering their guests by a final score of 64-25.
The Pacers were led in the first quarter by junior Cale Collier, who came off the bench to score nine points while the Pacer team accounted for 17 in the period.
Mason Peelman connected on a three-pointer in the first; while Cam Craig had three points on a field goal and a freethrow; and Isaac Williams added two freethrows.
Leading 17-6, the Pacers kept up the offensive pressure in the second stanza, scoring 12 more points while limited Trimble County to eight, grabbing a 29-14 lead at the half.
Isaac Williams took on the scoring load in the second, scoring seven points on three field goals and a freethrow; while Corbin Craig put in some strong minutes, scoring three points on a freethrow and a field goal. Cam Craig added a field goal for the other two markers.
Switzerland County put the game away in the third, as the Pacers came out of the halftime break hot, scoring 23 points — two less than Trimble County would score in the entire game.
Isaac Williams stayed hot, converting three freethrows and a field goal for five points; and Cooper Todd also had five points in the stanza, making a three-pointer and adding two freethrows. Cam Craig made it a trio of five-point scorers, as he had a three-pointer and a pair of charities.
Carson Griffith had two baskets for four points; and Drew Wilks and Peelman each had field goals for two points each.
With a quarter to play, Switzerland County had a 52-19 advantage.
The final eight minutes of play saw the Pacers score 12 points; with Todd accounting for five more with two field goals and a freethrow. Griffith added a three-pointer; and Isaac Williams converted a pair of field goals to make the final margin 39 points, 64-25.
Isaac Williams led Switzerland County on the night with 18 points, and he also had six rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
Cam Craig had a quiet night, scoring 10 points while contributing seven rebounds, two assists and one steal. Todd also finished with 10 points while adding a team-high 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
Collier had nine points, three rebounds, three steals and an assist; Griffith added seven points, two rebounds, two steals, and an assist; Peelman had five points, four rebounds, a steal and an assist; Corbin Craig had three points and three rebounds; and Wilks had two points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Trimble County was led by Hudson Jent with eight points.

In the junior varsity game, Trimble County won by a score of 40-39.
The Pacers were led in the game by Corbin Craig with 18 points; while Brian Jones had seven and Caleb Byrd had five.
Madden Peelman had four points; Isaiah Dayadharum and Riley Smith had two points each; and Landen McAlister contributed one point.
