Pacers earn three wins


The Switzerland County Pacer baseball team picked up three wins during the past week.

– On Friday, May 1st, the Pacers defeated North Decatur by a score of 9-3.

Casper Stow went the distance on the mound, allowing just eight hits and three earned runs while striking out four.

Offensively: Zack Whitaker was 1-for-5 with a double and two runs scored; Justin Johnson was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI; Stow was 1-for-5 with two runs scored; Matt Roland was 1-for-3; Dalton Roark was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored; Kyle Whitham was 1-for-3; Owen Wagner was 1-for-3 with three RBI; Justin Chatham was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI; Austin South was 2-for-4; and Ryan Brubaker was 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI.

– On Monday the Pacers dismantled Madison Shawe by a score of 12-1, as Matt Roland earned his first win on the mound. Justin Johnson had a big day offensively, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, getting two hits in the fourth inning alone. Zack Whitaker made a huge play defensively in the first to get the Pacers out of a jam when he caught a long fly in centerfield and then threw a perfect strike to the plate to double up the runner attempting to score.

Whitaker also have five RBI in the game; Douglas Ray had two RBI; and Justin Chatham had two RBI. Owen Wagner and Roland also had hits.

– In Monday night’s junior varsity game, the Pacers defeated Madison Shawe 9-3. Kyle Whitham went the distance on the mound for his first high school win; and Justin Chatham provided the offense, going 2-for-2 with a base and balls and he scored three runs. Whitham was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI.

Austin South had a hit and scored a run; Jacob Turner, Justice Bledsoe, and Trystan Kielbasa each scored a run; Kaleb Harrell had two hits; and Brandon Bennett had a hit.
