Pacer cross country second in ORVC; set for Sectional on Saturday
Both the girls and boys Switzerland County cross country teams turned in outstanding performances on Saturday — as both squads earned second place overall in the ORVC Conference Meet.
Individually, Lady Pacer Claire Rogers and Pacer Cooper earned second place overall; while the Lady Pacers saw Gracie White finish in fifth place and Nate Furnish finished in sixth place in the boys race — placing four Switzerland County runners on the All-Conference team.
Seniors White and Furnish earned All Conference honors for the fourth time in their running careers.
In the girls race:
Rogers finished second overall in a time of 20:42; White was fifth overall in a time of 21:42; Amber Detmer was 13th in a time of 24:23; Ashlyn Covington was 16th in a time of 25:16; and Rue Tasbolatova finished 24th overall in a personal best time of 28:22.

In the boys race:
Hon finished second with a time of 17:10; while Furnish was sixth in a time of 18:26. Cale Collier ran a personal best time of 19:12 to finish in14th place overall; Luke Sullivan ran a time of 19:57 to finish 23rd overall; and Dylan Sullivan ran a season best time of 20:16 to come in 26th overall.
Kadyn Riley finished 35th in a time of 21:23; Derek Hoskins was 38th in a time of 22:35; and Canaan Johnson finished 45th in a time of 24:44.

The Switzerland County teams now prep for this Saturday’s Sectional race, which will be held at Hardy Lake, with Austin serving as the meet host.
Other teams vying for Sectional honors on Saturday include: Austin, Charlestown, Crothersville, Henryville, Jeffersonville, Jennings County, Madison, New Washington, Scottsburg, Shawe Memorial, Silver Creek, and Southwestern.
The girls race will begin at 10 a.m.; with the boys race following at approximately 10:45 a.m.
