Pacer cross country teams host lone home meet
The Switzerland County High School varsity cross country teams hosted their only home meet of the season on Tuesday, August 23rd — and had outstanding results.
In the boys race, Switzerland County won the meet with a team score of 22, followed by Rising Sun with 47; Boone County (Kentucky) with 71; and Carroll County (Kentucky) with 89. Shawe Memorial participated but did not have enough runners to record a team score..
Pacer Cooper Hon was the overall winner of the race, covering the course in a time of 17:44.
Nathan Furnish was third overall with a time of 18:45; Cale Collier was fourth with a time of 19:30; and Luke Sullivan was seventh in a time of 20:03.
Dylan Sullivan was 13th with a time of 22:07; Kadyn Riley was 14th in 22:51; Canaan Johnson was 17th in a time of 24:43; and Derek Hoskins was 18th with a time of 24:52.
Coach Meganmarie Dennis’ Lady Pacers are struggling through injuries at this point of the season, and only had three runners in Tuesday’s race — not enough to record a team score.
Rising Sun won the meet with a score of 20; while Shawe Memorial was second with 35.
Individually for Switzerland County, Gracie White was second overall in a time of 21:59; Amber Detmer was fourth overall with a time of 25:29; and Ashlyn Covington finished seventh with a clocking of 26:06.
Callie Alderman of Shawe Memorial was the overall winner with a time of 21:16.
