The Switzerland County Pacer baseball team picked up a much-needed win on Monday with a 12-1 pasting of Southwestern.
Pacer pitchers Cody Peters and Chancey May gave up only one hit and two walks to Southwestern batters on the night; and the Pacer defense committed only one error in the field. Cody Peters faced only 10 batters in his three innings of work, walking one and striking out nine. Chancey May finished the final two innings, giving up one Southwestern hit, one walk, striking out three, and giving up one run, which was unearned.
Southwestern errors helped Switzerland County get on the board early, with the first three batters of the game for the Pacers reaching on walks. Rebel pitchers combined for seven walks in the game, and the Pacers made the most of their five hits.
Cody Peters had a triple and an RBI; Travis Webster had a single and an RBI; Chancey May had a single and two runs scored; Zach Getz had a single and an RBI; Kris Hetrick had a double and two RBI; and Michael Otter had two RBI. Pacer reserve infielders Brandon Otter and Ryan Peters turned a nice double play to end a Southwestern threat and preserve the early victory.
