Pacers athletes honored by conference

The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its “Top Performers” and “Players of the Week” in fall sports for September 28th through October 3rd.

– In girls cross country, freshman Lady Pacer Paige Freeman was spotlighted as the “Runner of the Week”.

She earned the honor by finishing second overall with a time of 21:59 in a Switzerland County four-way meet.

Teammates Allie Mathews and Taryn Parr were honored as Top Performers.

Allie Mathews was honored for finishing first overall in a time of 20:59 in a Switzerland County four-way meet.

Taryn Parr was honored for finishing third overall in a time of 22:11 in a Switzerland County four-way meet.

Others honored as Top Performers included: Sam White of Jac-Cen-Del; and Sarah Torline and Chloe Storm of Madison Shawe.

– In boys cross country, Pacer senior Corey McFarland was honored as the “Runner of the Week”.

He earned the honor for finishing first overall in a time of 16:33 in a Switzerland County four-way meet.

Senior teammate Tray Meyer and sophomore Anthony Dennis were both honored as Top Performers.

Tray Meyer was honored as a Top Performer for finishing second overall in a time of 17:00 in a Switzerland County four-way meet.

Anthony Dennis was honored for finishing third overall in a time of 17:50 in a Switzerland County four-way meet.

Others honored as Top Performers included: Zack Grossman and Ethan Back of South Ripley; Donnie Lows of Jac-Cen-Del; and Campbell Higbie of Madison Shawe.

– In volleyball, Lady Pacers Jesse Ray and Shayla Smith were honored as Top Performers.

Jesse Ray was honored for her 30-for-32 serving versus Madison Shawe.

Shayla Smith was honored for her 20-for-22 setting versus Madison Shawe.

Others in the conference honored as Top Performers included: Kayla Kelly of Rising Sun; Jessica Foster of South Ripley; and Meg Huffmeyer of Jac-Cen-Del.

Breanna Keith of Rising Sun and Camille Cline of Southwestern shared “Player of the Week” honors in volleyball.
