The Switzerland County boys varsity track team participated last Thursday evening in the IHSAA Track Sectional at East Central High School, and the team placed ninth overall with 26 points.

But the big news of the event was that some Pacer runners did well enough to earn the right to advance to the Regional meet.

Alex Curran was the individual winner of the high jump, setting a personal best record of 6′ 3″ to advance.

Also advancing was Clint Swanson, who finished third overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of :23.45.

Earning their ticket to the Regional was the 400-meter relay team of Jesse Bailey, Zack Rodgers, Tyler Maxey, and Clint Swanson. The squad finished fourth overall with a time of :47.50.

Also competing in the Sectional were: Kevin Adams, who finished eighth in the high jump; Quinn Meyer, seventh in the long jump; and Zack Rodgers, 10th in the long jump and seventh in the discus.

The Sectional advancers now move on to the Regional, which will be held at Connersville tonight (Thursday) beginning at 6 p.m.

Sean McGarvey is the squad’s coach.
