Pacer wrestlers earn big Senior Night wins


The Switzerland County Pacer varsity wrestling team celebrated its Senior Night on Tuesday, January 9th; and the team earned a big win over Southwestern, 60-18.

“All of our seniors were able to win their matches,” Coach Kris Sandlin said. “The wrestling team moves to 10-16 on the season, which continues to be a school record for wins in a season.”

Results from the Senior Night matches include:

– 106-pounds: Jacob Wolf win by forfeit

– 113-pounds: Austin Wolf win by forfeit

– 120-pounds: Aiden Day loss by 3rd period pin

– 126-pounds: Coby Manbeck win by forfeit

– 132-pounds: Damien Day win by 1st period pin

– 145-pounds: Kyzick Byrum loss by 1st period pin

– 152-pounds: Christian Wilson loss by 1st period pin

– 160-pounds: Dustin Wallace win by 1st period pin

– 170-pounds: Tyler Lieland win by forfeit

– 182-pounds: Andrew Garland win by forfeit

– 195-pounds: Alec Boggs win by forfeit

– 220-pounds: Brenden Otter win by forfeit

– Heavyweight: Brenon Smith win by forfeit.

“Our guys have worked extremely hard this year on the mat and in the weight room,” Sandlin said. “We are a different team than we were a month ago; things are starting to click for us. With a young group of guys, we are excited to see their progress and continue to watch them develop in our next month of the season. Aside from the win, our guys have learned the definition of hard work, sacrifice for the team and what it takes to be mentally tough.”
