Pacer track team is 3rd in ORVC meet


The Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity track team finished third overall last Thursday night at the ORVC Conference Track Meet, which was hosted by Rising Sun and held at South Dearborn High School.

South Ripley won the conference title with a team score of 120; followed by Rising Sun with 103; Switzerland County with 96; Milan with 92; Jac-Cen-Del with 34; Madison Shawe with 17; and Southwestern with 10.

Junior Corey McFarland was the lone Pacer to claim a conference championship, winning the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:51.

Second places were earned by Corey McFarland in the 800-meter run in a personal best time, and in the 3,200-meter run; Tray Meyer in the 1,600-meter run; Tanner Ross in the long jump with a personal best distance; Calen Otter in the high jump with a personal best height; Kyle Green in the shot put; and the 3,200-meter relay team of Corey McFarland, Tray Meyer, Tanner Ross, and Anthony Dasis.

Third place points were earned by Tray Meyer in the 3,200-meter run; Kyle Green in the long jump; Zak Rayls in the shot put; and the 400-meter relay team of Chad Robinson, Kyle Green, Jesse Bailey, and Anthony Dasis.

Finishing fourth was the 1,600-meter relay team of Jesse Bailey, Chad Robinson, Zach O’Neal, and Kyle Jaynes; and Zach O’Neal also finished fifth in the 400-meter dash in a season-best time.

Anthony Dasis was sixth in the 100-meter high hurdles; and Tanner Ross was sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

“This was a gutsy performance by these guys, and I could not be more proud of them,” Coach Sean McGarvey said. “Our focus now is to try and get as many of these men to advance out of the Sectional and to the Regional.”

The Pacer track team participates in the Track Sectional at East Central High School tonight (Thursday) beginning at 5 p.m.
