Pacer swim teams compete in ORVC

The Switzerland County Pacer boys and girls swim teams competed in the ORVC Conference meet on Tuesday, January 17th at Southwestern.

The boys team finished second overall with 244 points; trailing conference champion Milan, which had 294 points. Southwestern was third with 119 points; and South Ripley was fourth with 36 points.

Pacer senior Nathan Braun had an outstanding meet, winning the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:10.79; and he was also a part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team with Nick Braun, Gabe Streett, and Cameron Papucci, which swam an overall time of 1:49.84. Nathan Braun also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of :59.26; and was a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that included Nick Braun, Iago Del Rio, and Papucci and finished second in a time of 2:07.84.

– Nick Braun was second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :26.50; and was second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:15.73.

– Papucci was third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:30.03; and was seventh in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :29.69.

– Streett was third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :27.67; was fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:06.16; and finished second as a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay with teammates Del Rio, Pete Thanat, and Dalton Faddis in a time of 5:10.49.

– Faddis was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:59.23; and was third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 8:13.31.

– Del Rio was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:06.04; and was sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:33.99.

– Thanat finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:51.99.

In the girls conference meet, the Lady Pacers finished fourth with 161 points. Milan won the girls event with 318 points; followed by South Ripley with 278; and Southwestern with 233.

Individually, Switzerland County was led by Allison Furnish, who won the conference title in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:18.30. She also finished second overall in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:15.29; was a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team along with Mary Streett, Alina Frauendorf, and Moriah Northcutt, which finished third in a time of 2:10.12.

Furnish was also a part of the 200-yard medley relay team along with Frauendorf, Streett, and Northcutt that finished fourth in a time of 2:32.64.

– Streett was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:09.27; and was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :30.96.

– Northcutt was sixth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:20.35; and was eighth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :34.75.

– Maja Knezevic was sixth in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:43.50.

– Frauendorf was seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:36.21.

– Luiza Sawaya was ninth in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 2:08.40.

– Gillian Trimble was 10th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :45.43.

– Bailey Crawford was 10th in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 3:30.77; and was 10th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:35.91.

– The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Crawford, Knezevic, Sawaya, and Trimble finished fourth in a time of 6:56.78.
