The Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity soccer team won its first game of the season on Monday night, defeating Milan by a score of 3-1.
Goals in the contest were scored by Kris Hetrick, Ian Sisson, and Devon Armstrong; and Kris Hetrick and Justin Barnes each contributed an assist.
Goalie Aaron Moore recorded just four saves in goal, but that was due to outstanding Switzerland County defense, which kept Milan from getting shots on goal.
Coach Tony Spoores said that the game was controlled by midfielders Josh Wegman, Matt Wegman, Justin Barnes, Devon Armstrong, and Nathan Hickman.
Last Wednesday night the Pacers fell to Jac-Cen-Del by a score of 4-1. The Pacers’ lone goal was scored by Devon Armstrong with and assist from Kris Hetrick. Aaron Moore recorded 15 saves in goal, and Chris Tobias and Joe Spoores turned in outstanding performances on defense. The jayvee team was defeated by Jac-Cen-Del by a 4-0 count.
