Pacer soccer opens with loss to Scottsburg

The Switzerland County High School boys varsity soccer team lost its season opening match to Scottsburg last Thursday night by a score of 3-1.

The rain started before the opening whistle making the field slick. Scottsburg opened the scoring by putting the ball in the back of the net within the first two minutes.

The Warriors continued to pressure the Pacer defense, scoring two more goals before the end of the first half. The Pacers came off the field at halftime trailing 3-0.

Although spirits were dampened the team did not hang its heads. It started the second half much the same as the first, but held Scottsburg to its 3 goals. Not wanting to give up without a fight the boys continued to play hard throughout the second half.

The Pacers finished the game by scoring one goal late in the second half. Trey Taylor finished a cross making the final score 3-1 at the final whistle.

Congratulations for outstanding play went out to David Dayadharum; Captain Caleb McClellan; and Trey Taylor.
