Pacer soccer now
#2 in Indiana
It’s been a season of firsts for the Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity soccer team.
In the MaxPreps state rankings in Class 1A in Indiana, Coach David Todd’s Pacers are ranked #2 in the state — the highest ranking in school history for the boys. That ranking was as of Monday, September 26th. Park Tutor in Indianapolis is ranked #1 in the state. Shawe Memorial is currently ranked #12 in the state; and Southwestern is ranked #15.
Individually, sophomore Cooper Todd ranks #5 in the state (without regard to class) with 28 goals scored; and he’s #7 in Indiana with 66 total points (goals plus assists).
Perhaps the biggest milestone for the Pacer soccer team came without playing a game, as Switzerland County earned its first ever conference championship on Friday night when Southwestern and Milan played to a tie — which guaranteed the Pacers the outright ORVC title despite still having two conference games to play.
Henryville
On Saturday, September 24th, the Pacers beat the Henryville Hornets by a 3-0 count to remain unbeaten.
“It was another big win for the Pacers, as they tie a team record for shutouts with eight,” Coach Todd said. “Last year’s team had eight as well.”
The offensive load was balanced on Saturday, with Aiden Griffith, Ashton Purvis, and Jacob Williams each scoring goals; and Levi Curlin assisted on all three goals.
Pacer goalie Aiden Furnish had eight saves.
