Pacer MS boys set two ORVC records in winning conference title

  The Switzerland County Middle School boys track team earned the championship of the ORVC meet last Monday, May 9th; and the Lady Pacers finished second overall.

  The boys team dominated the meet, finishing with a team score of 130 1/2 points to easily outdistance second place Milan, who had 74 points. Rising Sun finished with 54 1/4 points; Jac-Cen-Del had 48; Southwestern had 40; and South Ripley finished with 24 1/4 points.

  First places for the Pacers were earned by Ty Lay in the 400-meter dash with a time of :57.74; Zack Scudder in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of :18.10; Cale Collier in the shot put with a distance of 37’ 2 3/4”; and Keaton Mosley in the long jump with a distance of 15;7”.

  History was also made on Monday night, as the 400-meter relay team of Collier, Mosley, Scudder, and Lay established a conference record by winning the event in a time of :50.26; and soon thereafter the Pacer 1,600-meter relay team of Lay, Mosley, Landon Penhall, and Collier set a new conference record when they claimed first place with a time of 4:04.

  Finishing in second place was Lay in the 100-meter dash; Kaden Connel in the 110-meter hurdles; Scudder in the 200-meter dash; Penhall in the 400-meter dash; and Collier in the 800-meter run; while third place points were earned by Connell in the 100-meter dash; and Luke Sullivan in the 800-meter run and the 1,600-meter run.

  Connell was fourth in the 200-meter dash and the long jump; Peyton Richards was fifth in the shot put; Nathan Volmer-Gibson was fifth in the discus; Kale Cumbie and Mosley tied for sixth place in the high jump; Cumbie finished eighth in the discus; and Landon McAlister was ninth in the 1,600-meter run.

  The Lady Pacers finished second with 76 points, behind champion Rising Sun, who finished with 89 points. Southwestern was third with 60 points; followed by Milan with 56; South Ripley with 41; and Jac-Cen-Del with 10.

  First places for Switzerland County were earned by Addy Preston in the shot put with a distance of 29’ 1/2”; and the 400-meter relay team of Molly Hicks, Lainie McAlister, Baylee Romans, and Lauren Smith in a time of :58.30.

  Second places were earned by Romans in the high jump and the long jump; while third places went to Smith in the 100-meter hurdles; Preston in the discus; and the 1,600-meter relay team of McAlister, Eva Hicks, Molly Hicks, and Smith.

  Earning fourth place points was Romans in the 100-meter dash; Smith in the 200-meter dash; McAlister in the 800-meter run and Rayne Roberts in the long jump; fifth places were earned by Claire Boggs in the 1,600-meter run; ; sixth place points were earned by Madison Spilman in the 400-meter dash; Molly Hicks in the 100-meter dash; McAlister in the 1,600-meter run; and Madison Hannan in the discus.

  Molly Hicks was seventh in the 200-meter dash; Eva Hicks was seventh in the 400-meter dash and Paige Gregory was seventh in the 1,600-meter run; eighth places were earned by Lyndsay Snider in the 400-meter dash and Annabelle Cooper in the shot put; and Mya Cutter finished ninth in the high jump.
