Pacer moundsmen stand 5-2 in ORVC

After winning two of three games over the past week, the Switzerland County Pacer varsity baseball team now stands at 5-2 in conference play, and it poised to make its move towards an ORVC title.

On Wednesday, April 29th, Switzerland County was defeated by Rising Sun by a score of 11-1.

“We played on our heels most of the game,” said a disappointed head coach Shannon Barger. “We had poor pitching, poor defense, and poor hitting against the conference leaders.

The Pacers bounced back on Monday, May 4th, with a 15-4 win over Madison Shawe.

Travis Tackett had a three-run homer in the contest; and Zach Osowski connected for a two-run blast in the win. Eric Johnson contributed a double; and Connor Osowski had two RBI.

“We played with better effort and had some big two-out hits,” Coach Barger said. “Connor Osowski got us going in the first with a two-out, two-run single.”

On the mound, Zach Osowski threw four innings and gave up only one run.

On Monday of this week the Pacers walloped Milan by a score of 11-4.

Danny Schira was the hitting star on the day, collecting three hits, including a home run, and he scored three runs and had four RBI.

Travis Tackett had three hits and two RBI; Zack Daugherty had three hits; Zach Osowski had two hits including a double and two RBI; Tyler Johnson had a double; and Allen Chase contributed a double.

Tyler Johnson pitched five innings and struck out four and allowed three earned runs; and Zach Osowski pitched two innings and had two strikeouts.

“We scored nine of our runs with two outs,” the Pacer coach said. “Offensively we had 14 hits, and we continue to learn and improve.”
