Pacer gridders fall to Owen County in shortened game
The Switzerland County Pacer varsity football team traveled across the river to take on Owen County (Kentucky) last Friday night — and the trip was shorter than anticipated.
The game was marred by physical play, which led to the contest being suspended midway through the third period with Switzerland County trailing by a 19-0 score.
Owen County scored on an 11-yard run in the first quarter, with the PAT being good to grab a 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Owen County again scored on an 11-yard run, but this time the kick was no good, making the score 13-0 at the half.
The Colonels then scored on a 13-yard pass play in the third quarter prior to the suspension of the remainder of the game, making the final score 19-0.
Switzerland County quarterback Matt David was 4-for-10 passing for 51 yards in the game; and he also had seven rushing attempts for 12 net yards.
Keaton Mosley had nine rushes for 15 yards; and Tyler Hoskins picked up a yard on the ground, but led the receiving attack with three catches for 50 yards. Matthew Young picked up one yard on one catch.
Hoskins also had a big night on the defensive side of the ball, making three tackles and also having three tackle assists; while Gabe Rose finished with three tackles, one tackle assist, and one tackle for loss.
