Pacer golfers wrap season at Sectional

The Switzerland County High School sports season officially closed on Monday when the Pacer golf team participated in the Madison Sectional.

The Switzerland County High School sports season officially closed on Monday when the Pacer golf team participated in the Madison Sectional.

The Pacer squad finished seventh overall in the Sectional in a field of 12, carding a team score of 404.

Madison won the Sectional with a score of 308; followed by Southwestern with 330; Jennings County with 339; Henryville with 349; Scottsburg with 375; and Rising Sun was sixth with 397.

Following Switzerland County, Austin had a score of 422; South Ripley finished with 453; New Washington with 456; Charlestown with 457; and Shawe Memorial did not have enough golfers to record a team score.

Individually for the Pacers, Kyle Whitham was the low scorer with a round of 89 (44-450; while Garrett Demaree had a 101 (53-48); Tyler Konkle shot a 102 (54-48); and Austin Wolf finished with a score of 112 (56-56).

Landon Conner of Madison was the low medalist of the Sectional with an 18-hole score of 70; Carter Bowles of Scottsburg had a 74; as did Hunter Mefford of Southwestern; while Weston Allen of Henryville and Drew Barron of Madison each had a 78.

The top three teams from the Sectional advance to the Regional, along with the top three golfers from schools not advancing as a team. That means that Bowles, Allen, and Fernando Diaz of New Washington will also participate in the Regional; along with Madison, Southwestern, and Jennings County.
