Pacer golf team having solid season

The Switzerland County boys varsity golf team participated in two meets last week.

– On Monday, Aapril 24th, the Pacers traveled to the Links at Rising Star. “Even thought we shot our best team score so far this season, we took third place behind Rising Sun and Southwestern,” head coach Natalie Wheeler said. “Two of our players had career low scores tonight: Nick Braun 40 and Garrett Demaree 48.”

Individual scores for Switzerland County included: Nick Braun, 40; Nate Braun, 47; Garrett Demaree, 48; Josh Tice, 52; and Collin Bovard, 61.

Led by Medalist Sam Markland, Rising Sun won the meet with a team score of 173; followed by Southwestern with 174 and Switzerland County with 187.

– On Wednesday, April 26th, the Pacers had their first home meet of the season at Belterra Golf Club, a duel meet with Shawe Memorial.

“We did not play our best, despite the gorgeous weather and condition of the course,” Coach Wheeler said. “Belterra is a tough course, but we are hoping for better scores there next week.”

Individual scores for the Pacers included: Nick Braun, 49; Josh Tice, 49; Nate Braun, 50; Hunter Hayes, 52; Garrett Demaree, 59; Justice Bledsoe, 54; Collin Bovard, 57; and Pete Kuchart, 66.

Switzerland County finished with a team score of 200; while Shawe Memorial had just one player, so did not record a team score.

The Pacers will participated in a three-way meet at Hoosier Links against Southwestern and Milan today (Thursday, May 4th), with the meet starting at 4:30 p.m.
