Pacer diamondmen suffer two more losses
The Switzerland County Pacer varsity baseball team suffered two more losses over the past week against conference opponents.
On Wednesday, May 5th, Switzerland County lost to South Ripley by a score of 3-1.
The Pacers got out to a quick lead with a run in the bottom of the first; and then held onto the lead until the top of the seventh, when the Raiders scored three runs to grab the win.
Drew Chatham had an outstanding day on the mound, pitching six innings and picking up five strikeouts. Bryce Turner pitched one inning, striking out three.
The Pacers entertained Rising Sun on Friday night, May 7th, and fell to the Shiners by a score of 12-7.
Falling behind 3-0 after one inning, the Pacers scored two runs in the bottom of the second; and after Rising Sun posted a run in the top of the third, two more runs by Switzerland County knotted the game at 4-4.
The Shiners then broke away with three runs in the top of the fourth and then added four more in the top of the fifth to make the score 11-4. Both teams scored a run in the sixth inning; and the Pacers posted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh with two runs, but the rally fell short.
Ben Hicks and Austin Bosaw each had two hits for the Pacers in the game, with Bosaw picking up four RBI. Dakota Wallace walked three times.
Wallace pitched four innings and had four strikeouts; while Kaleb Koons pitched three innings.
