Pacer boys soccer
splits opening games
The Switzerland County boys varsity soccer team won its season opener last week, but lost its home opener on Monday night to split its opening contests.
• The Pacers won their season opener last Thursday night with a big 6-2 win over Austin 6-2.
Freshman Levi Curlin opened the scoring for the Pacer’s season early in the first half — and finished the game with a hat trick (three goals in one game).
Coach Brian Grigsby said that the second half was all about the outstanding defense played by Pacers Austin Wolf, Jacob Wolf and Austin Bosaw.
Other Switzerland County players scoring in the game included Damien Breeck, Austin Bosaw, and Aiden Griffith.
• On Monday night, the Pacers came home and fell to conference foe Jac-Cen-Del by a final score of 7-2.
Pacer coach Grigsby said that the Pacers struggled to contain Jac-Cen-Del’s offensive attack all evening long.
“Dallas Snider came up with numerous saves including stopping a penalty shot and the rebound shot,” Coach Grigsby said. “But it wasn’t enough to get the Pacers through.”
Switzerland County’s next game is tonight (Thursday) at home against Rising Sun. The game begins at 5 p.m.
