The Pacer baseball team has answered last year’s Sectional championship with another outstanding season.
Games during the past week include:
– On Wednesday, April 23rd, the Pacers traveled to New Washington and returned with an 11-10 victory.
The Pacers got on the board in the first inning with two runs, scored by Nate Hunter and Kyle Konkle, both of whom had reached on singles. Hunter Jordan drew a base on balls, and Bob Tressler drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Switzerland County’s offense got rolling in the second inning, scoring four more runs.
Matt Roland reached base on an error by the pitcher and Tanner Jones drew a walk. Nate Hunter then singled, and Kyle Konkle reached on an error by the third baseman.
Hunter Jordan followed with an RBI.
The Pacers scored again in the fourth when Hunter Jordan singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Bob Tressler; and then put the game away in the fifth inning, scoring four runs.
Douglas Ray, Matt Roland, Tanner Jones, and Nate Hunter all scored in the inning; with Tanner Jones and Bob Tressler each picking up singles.
The game ended when the Pacers turned a 1-2-3 double play in the bottom of the seventh.
On the mound, Bob Tressler went four innings, striking out six; Zach Whitaker pitched two innings, striking out two; and Nate Hunter pitched an inning.
– On Thursday night the Pacer jayvee played South Ripley, winning by a score of 2-1.
Caleb Furnish had a single; Casper Stow scored a run; Brandon White had a single and a run scored; Tylor Thomas added a single; and Allijah Hambrick also had a single.
Matt Roland pitched five innings, striking out eight and allowing no runs; and Dalton Roark pitched two innings, striking out two.
– The Pacer varsity took on South Ripley on Friday night, and picked up a big, 6-2 victory.
Nate Hunter scored three runs and picked up three singles on the night; Kyle Konkle had a single and scored a run; Hunter Jordan scored a run; Bob Tressler had a double; and Zach Whitaker had two singles.
Douglas Ray had a single and a walk; Matt Roland drew a walk and scored a run; and Tanner Jones also reached base with a walk.
Nate Hunter pitched seven innings to pick up the win. He struck out eight and walked just three, scattering three hits over his time on the mound.
– The Pacers traveled to Oldenburg on Saturday, and fell by a score of 5-3.
Hunter Jordan scored two runs in the contest and had two singles; while Kyle Konkle also contributed a pair of singles.
Zach Whitaker had two singles; Ryan Brubaker had a single; Caleb Furnish had a single; and Tanner Jones drew a walk and scored a run.
Kyle Konkle pitched four innings, striking out four and allowing three earned runs; and Ryan Brubaker pitched the other three innings, striking out three and allowing one earned run.
- The junior varsity Pacers also played Oldenburg, winning by a score of 13-7.
Casper Stow had a single, a walk, and two runs scored; Allijah Hambrick had a single and two runs scored; Caleb Furnish had a single and two runs scored; and Brandon White scored two runs.
Matt Roland had three runs scored, and had a single; Tylor Thomas scored a run; Blake McAllister scored a run; and Dalton Roark had a single.
