The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its listing of “Players of the Week” and “Top Performers” in fall sports for the week of August 25th through September 6th; and Switzerland County athletes are among those honored.
– In volleyball, Lady Pacer players Christina Ahaus and Ariel Clark were honored as “Top Performers”.
Christina Ahaus was honored for recording seven kills, three blocks, and was 12-for-13 serving versus Milan.
Ariel Clark was honored for 88-percent setting and 10-for-13 serving versus Milan.
Others honored as “Top Performers” included: Sealey Snyder, Alex Snyder, and Kasey King of South Ripley; Jessica Hussong and Aryn Peters of Rising Sun; Camille Cline, Kaeli Black, and Stephanie Stalcup of Southwestern; and Tanaha Simon and Danielle Leighty of Jac-Cen-Del.
Kelci Lange of Rising Sun was honored as the “Player of the Week”.
– In boys cross country, senior Pacer Clay Meyer was honored as the “Runner of the Week”.
He earned the distinction by running a time of 16:46 at Switzerland County; and a time of 18:09 at South Dearborn.
Corey McFarland earned “Top Performer” honors for his time of 17:29 at Switzerland County and 18:46 at South Dearborn.
Other runners honored as “Top Performers” included: Ben Montgomery and Andy Miller of South Ripley; Anthony Nierlich, Adam Hummel, and Nate Minks of Rising Sun; and Donnie Laws, Derek Lunsford, and Brock Shaddy of Jac-Cen-Del.
– In girls cross country. Lady Pacers Bre Hinman and Allie Mathews were honored as “Top Performers”.
Bre Hinman was honored for her times of 23:16 at Switzerland County; and 25:26 at South Dearborn.
Allie Mathews was honored for her times of 23:39 at Switzerland County; and 25:45 at South Dearborn.
Others honored as “Top Performers” included: Caitlyn Bowman and Chelsea Bowman of Rising Sun; Sam White and Becca Wagner of Jac-Cen-Del; K. Dickey of Milan; and Melanie Berry of South Ripley.
Jenifer Patrick of South Ripley was honored as the “Runner of the Week”.
– In girls golf, Switzerland County’s Jenna Daugherty and Tiffany Lucas earned spots on the All Conference team by placing in the top 12 at the conference meet.
Jenna Daugherty was eighth overall, and was named the ORVC’s winner of the Mental Attitude Award; and Tiffany Lucas was 11th overall.
