Bring the whole family to downtown Vevay this weekend for the annual “Over the River Christmas Celebration”. Events for the weekend include pictures with Santa; a ‘Make-It Take-It’ workshop; the community tree lighting ceremony; and holiday sales.
The weekend’s events will begin with the annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at the Switzerland County Courthouse tomorrow (Friday) beginning at 6 p.m.
Santa will arrive on a fire engine, and will be available to visit with all of the children. The Switzerland County High School Choir will perform Christmas music; and everyone will be able to enjoy hot chocolate and the beautiful display of Christmas lights.
It is also ‘First Friday’, and many merchants will be open late for everyone’s holiday shopping convenience. There will also be entertainment at the Coffee Works Café and at The Mercantile of Switzerland County. Everyone will also be able to vote for their favorite Christmas tree that has been decorated by a local business. The trees will be displayed in business windows during ‘First Friday’.
This Saturday at the Visitor’s Center is the “Make-It Take-It” workshop for kids from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Santa will also be here for free pictures from noon until 2 p.m.
Tomorrow (Friday) through Sunday, Dianna South is hosting an open house featuring Home Interiors and Gifts; and on Saturday and Sunday, there will be a Longaberger Open House, hosted by Traci Pavy at 298 Highway 156.
