Outstanding athletes

Switzerland County High School held its winter athletic banquet on Tuesday night, with students who participated in swimming, basketball, wrestling, and cheerleading being honored.

Those athletes receiving special honors included, front row, from left: Josie Stogsdill, who earned the Rookie Award for girls swimming; Brooke Johnson, who earned the Freethrow Award for junior varsity girls basketball; Aleiah Thomas, who earned the Defense Award and the Assist Award for varsity girls basketball; Lexi Lay, who earned the Freethrow Award for varsity girls basketball; Calleigh Powell, who earned the Mental Attitude Award for varsity girls basketball; and Jody Breeck, who earned the Field Goal Award and the Rebound Award for varsity girls basketball and also the Senior Scholastic Award. Also earning special honors, but not available when the photo was taken, were: Leonia Kandera and Veronika Synakova, who earned the Pacer Award in girls swimming; Abby Niswander, who earned the Teammate Award in girls swimming; Madesyn Byrd, who earned the Most Improved Award in cheerleading; and Ashley Day, who earned the Senior Award in wrestling.
