Opthamologist Kris Pugh joins Eye Care Group here

Switzerland County residents will have more access to eye care now that a new opthamologist is seeing patients in Vevay.

Dr. Kris Pugh has joined his practice to the Eye Care Group, and will be seeing patients at the office on Main Street on the first Wednesday of each month.

“I joined my practice six years ago, and I joined a practice that had been established 30 years ago,” Dr. Pugh said. “We have 100 employees, but we have an extended network of eye care professionals that we work with. Right from the get-go I felt really comfortable with Dr. Tom Lisle. I’ve worked with him for six years.”

Dr. Pugh said that he and Dr. Lisle sat down and talked and discussed the possibility of him coming to Vevay to see patients.

“I’ve already been seeing a lot of patients from Vevay and Switzerland County at other offices and satellites, and they’ve always been very enjoyable,” Dr. Pugh said. “I told Dr. Lisle that it would be nice to be able to cut down on travel time for patients who live here, so I could come to Vevay and see patients once and month, and he was in favor of it.”

Dr. Pugh’s central office is located in Jeffersonville.

Dr. Pugh earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Butler University; and his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed a Transitional Year Internship at Clarian Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, and he fulfilled his Ophthalmology Residency Training at the University of South Carolina, where he was elected Chief Resident.

The doctor treats a lot of patients who need cataract surgery; glaucoma surgery; and patients who are interested in having refractive surgery in order to no longer wear glasses or contact lenses.

“Along with those, just any type of red eye that needs to be taken care of,” Dr. Pugh said. “Lumps and bumps. Anything that Dr. Lisle and Dr. Newman feel that they would need to send somewhere else, I will be able to see those patients here and cut down on the travel time for people.”

Dr. Pugh said that he plans on doing “as much as he can here” in Vevay; but that patients will also have the option if they need surgery to continue to go to either Madison or to Jeffersonville where his practice’s surgery center is located.

“We even come and provide transportation for patients, believe it or not,” Dr. Pugh smiled.
