Ohio County 4-H Fair opens Friday

The 2016 Ohio County 4H Community Fair will run Friday, June 24th through Saturday, July, 2 at the Ohio County Fairgrounds.

This year’s two money making events are Flat drags on Friday and Demolition Derby on Saturday. Admission cost is $10 both evenings.

There are no admission fees for the rest of the events.

The fair opens with the annual dog show at 10 a.m. Friday followed by Pocket Pets at 11 a.m., cat show at 11:30 and tractor driving contest at noon. A closed fashion revue is at 1 p.m.

Gates open at3 p.m. with the flat drags registration beginning at 4 p.m. and the show at 7 p.m.

Exhibit hall projects are due between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday.

The Ohio County Baby Contest is at 2 p.m.

Gates open at 3 p.m. with registration at 4 p.m. and the Demolition Derby at 7:30.

On Sunday, the horse show is at 10 a.m. and Livestock comes in from 5 to 8 p.m.

Monday opens with rabbits, poultry and waterfowl coming in between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.

Weigh in and auction pictures are at 9:30.

The annual archery shoot is at 1 p.m. with exhibition shotgun shoot at 3 p.m. Public speaking contest is at 6 p.m. followed by demonstrations at 6:30 and the exhibit hall parade of champions and fashion revue at 7 p.m.

Tuesday opens with the rabbit show at 8 a.m. The Dairy Cattle Show is at 4 p.m. with the dairy goat show at 5 p.m. and Meat goat at 6 p.m.

Poultry and waterfowl judging opens Wednesday’s events at 8 a.m. with the 4-H livestock judging at 1 p.m.

The Wet Beef Show is at 5 p.m. followed by Swine Show at 7 p.m.

Thursday is a fun day as a mini-4-H picnic is followed by 4-H games.

Cow/calf entry is from 2 to 3 p.m. with the Sheep Show at 5 p.m. and Beef Show at 7 p.m.

Supreme Showmanship is at 1 p.m. Friday. The annual Farm Bureau Pork Chop BBQ is at 4 p.m. followed by the Rotary Livestock Auction at 6 p.m.

The Exhibit Hall is open from 5 to 9 p.m. each day
