Charles Hilbert Bovard, 88, of Rising Sun, passed away Friday, July 20th, at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg.
He was born September 20th, 1918, in Ohio County, the son of Isaac Leroy and Minnie (Dennis) Bovard. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1939. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, rising to the rank of Seaman 1st Class. He was a farmer. He was a member of the United Holiness Church in Milan, International Conservative Holiness Association and American Legion Post 59 in Rising Sun.
On July 1st, 1939, he married Marjorie Whitham, who died October 19th, 2003. On August 24th, 2005, he married Norma Henson, who survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Gale L. Bovard and companion Kathy Harris of Greendale, Gary Bovard and wife Suzanne of Ft. Wright, Kentucky, Rodger Bovard and wife Bonnie of Aberdeen, and Tim Bovard of Rising Sun; his daughter, Shirley Slack and husband Raymond of Rising Sun; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Russell and Ralph L. Bovard; and his sister, Helen Brady.
Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Roger Smith Tuesday, July 24th, at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Burial was in Rising Sun New Cemetery with military services conducted at the graveside by Rising Sun American Legion Post 59. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Holiness Church in Milan or Ohio County Rescue.
