Marjorie Furnish

Marjorie H. (Dunning) Furnish, age 87, of 501 Washington Street #16, Vevay, passed away on Thursday, July 14th, 2005 at 9:05 p.m. at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Marjorie was born in Streator, Illinois and had resided most of her life in Switzerland County. She was united in marriage to Oliver “Funny” Furnish on June 15th, 1935, in Patriot, Indiana. They were blessed with two sons and two daughters.
Marjorie was employed as a stitcher with the U.S. Shoe Corporation in Vevay for 30 years, retiring in 1980. Marjorie enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, quilting, working in her beautiful flower gardens and walking. She enjoyed her many years on the farm until she moved to Vevay in 1982.
Marjorie was a faithful member of the Center Square Baptist Church. She had a sudden fall and passed away suddenly on Thursday.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in law: Jerry and Peggy Furnish of Versailles, Indiana; and Gareth and Mary Lou Furnish of Vevay; two daughters and sons-in law: Karen and Jestin Lewis of Reading, Ohio; and Eileen and Noel Houze of Aurora.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Vance and Kim Furnish; Oliver and Jennifer Furnish; Lonnie and Tina Furnish; Tracey and John South; Stacy and Kim Zearing; Hope and John Sams; Mary and Jay Hubbard; Noel, Jr. and Susan Houze; Bonita and Richard Palmer; and Melody Jackson. Also surviving are 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives; her very special friend Harold Ford of Vevay; two sisters-in-law: Frieda Peters of Kissimmee, Florida and Hazel Furnish of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Carl Dunning and Leo (Roberts) Dunning; Husband: Oliver Edward “Funny” Furnish, died January 25th, 1996; her brother: Cecil Dunning; her grandsons: Monty Steven Furnish and Vincent Hal Furnish.
Funeral Services were conducted Monday, July 18th, at 3 p.m. (slow time) by Reverend Gary Shepherd at the Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Visitation was Sunday, from 5-8 p.m.; and Monday from 2 p.m. until time of the service at the Vevay Cemetery.

Jada Nacole Craig

Jada Nacole Craig, age 10 months, of 27 Bliss Lane, Vevay, passed away on Wednesday, July 13th, at 7:43 p.m. at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Jada entered this life on September 11th, 2004, at Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Derrick Lee Anderson and Nina Nacole Craig. She was a beautiful, happy little girl who loved her mommy and her daddy. She loved to be wrapped up in her favorite blanky.
Survivors include her father, Derrick Lee Anderson of Vevay; brother Derrick Lee Craig of Vevay; maternal grandmother, Sandra Mae White of Cincinnati, Ohio; maternal grandfather, Warren Fox of Cincinnati, Ohio; paternal grandmother, Melinda Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; paternal grandfather, George David Craig of Columbus, Ohio; and paternal great-grandmother, Vivian Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio.
She is also survived by four aunts: Michelle Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio; Vicky Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio; Autumn Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Ashley Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; two uncles: David Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio, Randy Duggan of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several cousins, great aunts, great uncles, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Nina Nacole Craig, July 13th, 2005; her brother: Devin Lee Anderson, July 13th, 2005; maternal grandparents: Dorothy and Kemper White, and paternal great-grandfather: George Craig.
Joint funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. (slow time) by Brother Jim Ponchot at the Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay on Monday, July 18th. Visitation was 9-11 a.m. on Monday at Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home. Interment was at Arlington Memorial Gardens with graveside services at 2 p.m. (slow time) at 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio. Devin Lee Anderson

Devin Lee Anderson, age 3, of 27 Bliss Lane, Vevay, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, July 13th, at 4:06 p.m. on Tapps Ridge in Switzerland County in an auto accident.
Devin entered this life on May 6th, 2002, in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Derrick Lee Anderson and Nina Nacole Craig. Devin loved horses, cows, cats, and loved to play with his big brother.
Survivors include his father, Derrick Lee Anderson of Vevay; brother Derrick Lee Craig of Vevay; maternal grandmother, Sandra Mae White of Cincinnati, Ohio; paternal grandmother, Melinda Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; maternal grandfather, Warren Fox of Cincinnati, Ohio paternal grandfather, George David Craig of Columbus, Ohio; and paternal great-grandmother, Vivian Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Nina Nacole Craig

Nina Nacole Craig, age 21, of 27 Bliss Lane, Vevay, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 13th, at 4:06 p.m. on Tapps Ridge in Switzerland County, in an auto accident.
Nina entered this life on July 9th, 1984 in Cincinnati, Ohio the daughter of George David Craig and Sandra Mae White. Nina was a former employee of Taco Bell and Subway Restaurants in Cincinnati, Ohio for most of her working career. She was a devoted mother to her children. She had resided in Vevay for the past year. She was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, residing there most of her life. She attended the Baptist Church in Oakley.
Survivors include her mother: Sandra Mae White of Cincinnati, Ohio; step-father, Warren Fox of Cincinnati Ohio; her father, George David Craig of Columbus, Ohio; her son, Derrick Lee Craig of Vevay; her companion, Derrick Lee Anderson of Vevay; and paternal grandmother, Vivian Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Also surviving are two sisters: Michelle Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Vicky Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio; her brother: David Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio; her step-brother, Randy Duggan of Cincinnati, Ohio; two nephews, Curry Lykins, Jr., of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dante Burnett, Jr., of Cincinnati, Ohio; a niece, Ava Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather: George Craig; her maternal grandparents Dorothy and Kemper White; her son: Devin Lee Anderson on July 13th, 2005; and her daughter: Jada Nacole Craig on July 13th, 2005.

Marion F. Brett

Marion F. Brett, age 76, of Springdale, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 10th.
He was born on January 24th, 1929, in Switzerland County, the son of Everett R. “Punch” Brett and Ina Gullion Brett, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised in Switzerland County, graduating from Vevay High School in 1946; and was then inducted into the U.S. Army on January 26th, 1951.
He served in the Korean Conflict with the 7th Cavalry, Heavy Mortar Division; and was honorably discharged on January 12th, 1953, as a Pfc with a Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars; a United Nations Service Medal; and an Army Occupation Medal.
On May 1st, 1953, Marion was united in marriage to Myra Shelton of Jefferson County, Indiana in the Brooksburg Baptist Church. To this union arrived two sons and one daughter to bless their home.
In July of 1953 the couple moved to Chicago, Illinois, where Marion attended the Allied Institute of Technology until June of 1956. Shortly thereafter Marion and family moved to Springdale, Ohio, where Marion became employed as a tool specialist for General Electric, where he remained until his retirement.
After retiring, Marion remained in Springdale, where he enjoyed taking walks, visiting neighbors, family get-togethers, car races, and his children and grandchildren. He attended the Indianapolis 500 for 52 consecutive years until this year. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Glendale, Ohio. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Marion Brett is survived by his wife, Myra, of Springdale, Ohio; two sons: James and wife Rhonda of Maineville, Ohio; and Russell and wife Sally of Santa Clara, California; one daughter: Pam, of Springdale, Ohio; and six grandchildren: Jimmy, Lindsey, Shawn, Raymond, William, and Joseph.
Also surviving are two sisters: Melba D. Littrell of New Carlisle, Ohio; and Mary Ruth Poling of Rising Sun; and several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.
Vorhis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Louise Sides Arnold

Louise Sides Arnold of Goshen, Ohio, formerly of Vevay, passed away on Saturday, July 16th, at the age of 77. She was the daughter of James and Edith Montanye Sides, both of whom preceded her in death.
She and J.P. Arnold were married for 59 years; and is survived by a son, Jim Arnold and wife Angie; and two daughters: Joyce Hutchinson and husband, Joe; and Karen Gray and husband William.
A son, Gene Arnold, preceded her in death.
Louise Arnold is also survived by her grandchildren: Amy Denham; Joseph Hutchinson, Jr.; James Arnold; Robert Arnold, Jr.; Jayson Hutchinson; Shelly Howard; Brandon Williams; Nikki Irwin; and Keith Gray. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and 29 nieces and nephews.
Her brothers and sisters include: Fred Sides; Eleanor Ford; Janie Stewart; Faye Snyder; Sue Turner; Mary Sides; Don Sides; John Sides; Peggy Taylor — all of whom survive. She was preceded in death by a sister: Sarah Polk.
Services were held at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 1668 State Route 28, Goshen, Ohio, on Wednesday, July 20th, at noon. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Wendell “Buddy” Gregory

Wendell Leroy “Buddy” Gregory, age 64, passed away on Tuesday, July 19th at his residence in Rising Sun.
He was born on December 17th, 1940, in Switzerland County. He was the son of Wendell F. Gregory, who preceded him in death; and Viola Chase Gregory of Rising Sun, who survives.
A 1960 graduate of Rising Sun High School, he worked at Aurora Casket Company until he retired in 2003. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, holding the rank of private while fighting in the Vietnam War.
On December 15th, 1967, he married Emma Jean Henderson, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Wendell Gregory and wife Debbie of Dillsboro; and Clint Gregory and wife Sally of Rising Sun. He is also survived by two granddaughters: Jessica Gregory and Jamie Gregory; two grandsons: Caleb Gregory and Tristan Gregory; and one step granddaughter: Kayla Probst.
In addition to his parents, one sister, Marcella McKell; and a granddaughter, Letha Jean Gregory, preceded him in death.
Friends of Wendell Leroy “Buddy” Gregory may call at the Markland Funeral Home tonight (Thursday) from 4-8 p.m. (slow time). The funeral will be held tomorrow (Friday) beginning at 10 a.m. (slow time), with Reverend Ron Whitten officiating. Burial will be in the Rising Sun New Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Dearborn County Hospice; the American Cancer Society; the Rising Sun Life Squad; or the Rising Sun Fire Department.
