Wayne Brown

Wayne Evans Brown, 67, of Rising Sun, passed away Sunday, November 13th, at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg.

He was born November 25th, 1937, in Fairview, the son of William and Imogene (Clark) Brown. He was a graduate of Versailles High School Class of 1956. He was a retired electrician for Cincinnati Incorporated from 1962-1998. He was a member of the Bethel Unity Church in Rising Sun , Hartford Masonic Lodge No. 151, Backwater Bass Club, Southeastern Indiana EMMASU, and was on the Ohio County Emergency Unit for 15 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army Reserved veteran.

On April 20th, 1962, he married Carolyn Jenkins, who survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Leigh Kem and husband Jim of Aurora; his brother, Terry Brown and wife Gail of Versailles; his grandson, Kevin Kem; his granddaughters, Kirsten Kem and Chelsea Kem; and his nephew, Kenton Brown of Versailles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his niece, Cherri Hughes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 17th, by Dr. Jeral Treas and Pastor Dan Hunt at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Burial was in the Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Bethel Unity Church, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Danielle Griffin

Danielle Jo “D.J.” Griffin, 12, of Madisonville, Kentucky, formerly of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 13th, as a result of a car accident.

She was a sixth grade student at James Madison Middle School in Madisonville. She was in the Gifted and Talented Program at school and had received the Presidential Academic Award and was a fifth grade cheerleader.

Survivors include her father and his companion, Gerald Wayne Griffin, Jr., and Dana Harper of Robards, Kentucky; her mother and stepfather, Connie Jackson League and Michael League of Madisonville; her brother, Tyler Wayne Griffin of Madisonville; her stepsister, Alisha Brantley of Henderson; her stepbrother, Dylan League of Evansville; her maternal grandmother, Helen Jackson of Evansville; her paternal grandparents, Gerald and Terry Griffin of Henderson; her step paternal grandparents, Billy and Elizabeth League of Frankfort, Kentucky and Nelleta Sandefur of Vevay; great-grandmothers, Ethel Austin of Henderson and Josephine Schmidt of Evansville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ronald Jackson, Sr., in February, 1990.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 16th, by Reverends Jeff Coursey and Frank Chandler at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson. Burial was in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.
