Nora F. Marcum
Nora F. Marcum, 83, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 1st, at UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident Friday evening in Stanford.
She was born April 1st, 1922, in Sunnybrook, Kentucky in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Alvin H. and Mollie (Catron) Bates. She was a seamstress and was a member of the Ft. Logan Church of Christ in Stanford.
Survivors include her sons, Riley W. “Bill” Marcum and wife Ruth of Muncie, Indiana; Bob Marcum and John Marcum and wife Donna, all of Stanford, and Roger Marcum of Oxnord, California; her daughters, Cynthia “Cyndi” Sanders and husband John of Stanford and Ora Jane Wilson and husband James of Louisville; her brothers, Gordon Bates of Crown Point, Indiana and James Bates of New Castle, Indiana; 17 grandchildren, including Jacquita Lanman of Vevay; and 27 great-grandchildren, including Abby, Emily and Hilary Lanman, all of Vevay.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Frances Upchurch; her sister, Effie Melvin; and her brothers, Walter and Hulan Bates.
Funeral services were conducted by Billy Gooch, Pat Lanman and Doug Marcum Tuesday, October 4th, at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford and Wednesday, October 5th, at Fairview Church of Christ in Alpha, Kentucky. Burial will be in the Fairview Church of Christ Cemetery, Alpha, Kentucky.
