Ruth Osborn

Ruth Evelyn (Deckard) Osborn, age 91, of Vevay, died at 12:55 a.m. on Sunday, August 27th, 2017, at her residence.

Ruth entered this life on January 6th, 1926, in Knox County, Indiana, the loving daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah C. (Jaynes) Deckard. She was raised in Vincennes, Indiana, where she was a 1943 graduate of the Vincennes High School.

After high school, Ruth resided in the Indianapolis community and was united in marriage on June 2nd, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to William Earl Nail, Sr., and to this union arrived five children to bless their home. Ruth was later united in marriage on August 25th, 1973, in Vevay, to Nathan M. Osborn.

Ruth was employed for William E. Nail Plumbing in Lawrence, Indiana; and later for Internal Revenue Services as an auditor.

Ruth had resided in the Vevay community since 1969. She was a member of the Switzerland County Community Church in Vevay. Ruth will be remembered for her love of gardening, baking and traveling.

Ruth will be missed by her son: Paul David Nail and his wife: Kelly of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; her daughters: Inez “Kay” Love and her husband: Thomas of Lawton, Oklahoma and Carol Horn and her husband: Randy of St. Peters, Missouri; by her son-in-law: Theodore “Ted” Rodman, Jr. of Vevay; by her grandchildren: Theresa Milligan, Angela Holtswarth, Carrie Barwick, Jobi Stewart, Bill Nail, Joshua Nail, Millie Balistreri, Natalie Fisher and Nathan Nail; by her 13 great-grandchildren; her several step-grandchildren and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Isaac and Sarah C. (Jaynes) Deckard; by her first husband: William Earl Nail, Sr.; by her second husband: Nathan M. Osborn; by her son: William Earl “Bill” Nail, Jr., who died on June 16th, 2008; by her daughter: Evelyn Lee (Nail) Rodman, who died on June 23rd, 2015; by her step-son: William H. Wilson; by her brothers: Grant, Thomas, Alva, Loren, Gale and Paul Deckard; and her sisters: Edith Pirtle, Lila Wesley, Vivian Paul and Oma Horrall.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, August 30th, 2017, by Reverend Charles Dayadharum at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends were invited to call on the family on Wednesday, August 30th, prior to the beginning of the service at the funeral home.

Dale Peters

Dale Vernon Peters, age 77, of Patriot, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 26th, 2017, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.

Dale entered this life on July 25th, 1940, in Patriot, the loving son of the late Dale A. and Ida Margaret (Riley) Peters. He was raised in Patriot, and attended school in Florence.

Dale was united in marriage on August 3rd, 1959, in Vevay, to the late Rita L. Thomas, and to this union arrived two daughters: Beverly and Mary, to bless their home. Dale and Rita shared 56 years of marriage together until Rita passed away on April 20th, 2015.

Dale was employed as a truck driver for J & J Enterprises in Patriot, from 1989 to 2002. He was previously employed for the Switzerland County Highway Department for four years and for Mechanics Laundry in Indianapolis, Indiana for five years.

Dale was a member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ in Rising Sun. Dale resided in the Patriot community most of his life and enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

Dale will be missed by his daughters: Beverly Powers and her husband: Dale, and Mary Peters of Patriot; by his brother: Larry Peters of Pleasant; by his sisters: Patricia Brandon of Aurora, Indiana and Carolyn Morgan of Vevay; his sisters-in-law: Betty Jo Rider of Patriot, Crystal Peters of Vevay, June Wainscott of French, Indiana, and Sue Thomas of Patriot; his brother-in-law: Samuel Thomas of Vevay; and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Dale A. and Ida Margaret (Riley) Peters; by his wife of 56 years: Rita L. (Thomas) Peters, who died on April 20th, 2015; his brothers: Raymond Lee Peters, who died on July 5th, 2016 and Bobby Joe Peters, who died on March 7th, 2017; his niece: Cheryl Lynn Cunningham, who died on July 16th, 2011; his brothers-in-law: Gary Brandon, Wayne Rider, James Edward “Eddie”, Howard, Richard, Bernard and Leroy Thomas; one infant brother-in-law and his sisters-in-law: Linda Peters, Barbara Thomas, Mary Frances Thomas and Connie Jo Peters.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, August 29th, 2017, by Brother Hobert Byrd at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Internment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends were invited to call on the family on Tuesday, August 29th, prior to the beginning of the services at the funeral home.

Jonathan Roberts

Jonathan A. Roberts, age 66, of Lamb, died at 10:37 p.m. on Monday, August 28th, 2017, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

Jonathan entered this life on April 20th, 1951, in Henry County, Indiana, the son of the late Jonathan Paul and Alta Mary (Graham) Roberts. He was raised in Henry County, Indiana where he graduated high school and received his associates degree in Tool & Dye from Ivy Tech.

Jonathan was united in marriage on December 14th, 1985, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Deborah Ann Wells, and to this union arrived five sons: Adam, Donald, Kenneth, Keith and Jonathan to bless their home. Jonathan and Deborah shared nearly 32 years of marriage together until his death.

He was a former advanced EMT for Shoemaker in Cincinnati, Ohio, for seven years. Jonathan was also a former fork lift driver and union president for Pri-Pak in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, retiring after 12 years of service. He was a former volunteer fire fighter in Addison, Ohio and a truck driver.

He resided in the Cleveland, Tennessee community for three years; Cincinnati, Ohio for three years; Aurora, Indiana for 10 years; Scottsburg, Indiana for eight years; Holton, Indiana for four years; and lastly in the Lamb community for two years.

He was a member of the Steel Union in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and the Primitive Baptist Church. He enjoyed wood carving, playing the guitar and singing, My Friend, My Pal, My Buddy. Jonathan will be deeply missed by his loving family.

Jonathan will be dearly missed by his loving wife of nearly 32 years: Deborah Ann (Wells) Roberts of Lamb; his sons: Adam, Donald, Kenneth, Keith and Jonathan; his 15-grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren; his sister: Alice Powers of Campbellsburg, Kentucky; his brothers: Sam Roberts and his wife: Roberta of Greentown, Indiana, Bob Roberts and his wife: Joy of Kokomo, Indiana, and Dan Roberts and his wife: Becky of New Castle, Indiana; and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Jonathan Paul and Alta Mary (Graham) Roberts, who died on May 15th, 2010; his brother: Floyd Roberts; and his brother-in-law: Ira Powers.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, September 3rd, 2017, at 1 p.m., at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Friends may call from noon until 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 3rd, at the funeral home.

Marjorie Whitham

Marjorie I. “Margie” (Heath) Whitham, age 91, of East Enterprise, passed away at 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29th, 2017, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.

Marjorie entered this life on July 21st, 1926, in Dillsboro, Indiana, the loving daughter of the late Oliver and Nellie (Ketchum) Heath. She was raised in Dillsboro, where she attended school.

Margie was united in marriage on October 23rd, 1943 in Rising Sun, to the late, Raymond M. “Jim” Whitham, and to this union arrived twin daughters, Jeanette and Janet; and a son, Herbert, to bless their home. Margie and Jim shared nearly 62 years of marriage together until he passed away on March 26th, 2005.

Margie was employed for the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay, retiring after 38 years, 7 months and 15 days of service. She attended the New Liberty Baptist Church in East Enterprise. She enjoyed crafts, farming, sewing, reading, camping, fishing, bird watching, listening to country music and will be remembered for her love of her cats and her dogs.

Margie will be deeply missed by her twin daughters: Jeanette Knaus and her husband: Floyd of Florence and Janet Sullivan and her husband: Richard of Westport, Indiana; by her grandchildren: Christy Knaus, Jodi (Allen) Gipson, Tracy (Clayton) Seale, Deanna Kong and Melissa Whitham; by her great-grandchildren: Ryan Einhaus, Chance Hinman, Teryn Hinman, Devin Seale, Kason Kong and J.J. Kong; by her great-great-granddaughter, Rennlee Einhaus; by her four step-grandchildren and her 11 step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Oliver and Nellie (Ketchum) Heath; her husband: Raymond M. “Jim” Whitham, who died on March 26th, 2005; by her son: Herbert Wayne Whitham, who died on June 3rd, 2004; her daughter-in-law: Bonnie Whitham; her granddaughter: Dana Einhaus; her brothers: Clarence, Charles, Elwood and Chester Heath and her sisters: Louella Utter, Jewell and Elnora Heath.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 2nd, 2017, at 1 p.m., by Pastor Bill Madison at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 2nd, at the funeral home.
