Larry Mundy

Mr. Larry Joe Mundy, age 70, of Vevay, Indiana, formerly of Anderson, Indiana, entered this life on April 2, 1946, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of the late, Roy E. and Louise (Head) Mundy. He was raised in Anderson, Indiana where he was a 1964 graduate of Anderson High School. Larry was united in marriage on May 19, 1984, in Pendleton, Indiana to Janet (Pickett) Burnell. Larry and Janet shared 32 years of marriage together until his death.

Larry was employed for General Motors in Anderson, Indiana, retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service. He later moved from Pendleton, Indiana to Switzerland County, Indiana where he and Janet resided for the past 21 years. Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, strumming his guitar, sitting on his cabin front porch, writing songs and poems and spending time with his family. Larry passed away at 6:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at his residence in Vevay, Indiana.

Larry will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 32 years: Janet (Pickett) Burnell Mundy of Vevay, IN; his daughter: Brandy Reutebuch and her husband: Jerry of Noblesville, IN; his step-daughter: Sally Ellis and her husband: Scott of Monrovia, IN; his step-sons: Greg Burnell of Vevay, IN, Matt Burnell and his wife: Stacey of Frankton, IN and Bob Lawson of TX; his grandchildren: Mick Rector, Molly Rector, Miles Reutebuch, Marley Reutebuch, Zygi Reutebuch, Amber Walton and her husband: Carlos, Eli Henson, Reed Burnell, Sam Burnell, Libby Burnell, Daniele Burnell, Matthew Burnell and Robert Burnell; his sister: Naomi Moore of Anderson, IN; his brothers: Ron Mundy and his wife: Judy of Anderson, IN and Dave Mundy and his companion: Kay McKissick of Anderson, IN; his uncle: James Mundy of Arlington, OR; his brother-in-law: John Pickett and his wife: Ann of West Lafayette, IN and his nieces, nephews, friends and special cousins: Connie Terrell and her husband: Ted of Mitchell, IN and Jerry Bell of Mitchell, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy E. and Louise (Head) Mundy; his sons: Larry Mundy, Jr., died in 1968 and James Mundy, died in 1981; his grandchildren: Emma Burnell, died April 5, 1997 and Aaron Burnell, died March 10, 2006; his sister: Shirley Mezick and his brother: Roy L. Mundy.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 16, 2016, by Pastor Daniel Mundy, at the Loose Funeral Home, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013. Interment followed in the Spencer Cemetery, Sheridan, Indiana.

Mary Facemire

Mary K. Facemire, 81, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio.

She was born December 27, 1934 in Vevay, Indiana, daughter of the late Matt T. and Abbey Lothridge White. Mary was married to Jack G. Facemire, who survives her. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are her husband, Jack G. Facemire of Gallipolis; three sons, Jeffrey (Hortensia) Facemire, of Cornelious, North Carolina, Gary (Jenni) Facemire of Bidwell, Scott (Nicole) Facemire of Charleston, South Carolina; 8 grandchildren, Lindsey Dunham, Laura Kleinhans, Danielle Facemire, Jennifer Ferrell, Garrett Facemire, Jackson Facemire, Ellen Facemire, Katherine Facemire; four great grandchildren; one brother, Gerald “Bush” White of Rising Sun, Indiana; two sisters, Wanda Lea Chase of Lawrenceburg, Indiana and Helen “Shy” Adams of Rising Sun, Indiana.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Richard ‘Dick’, Bill, Jess, Jimmy “Doc” and Bobby White.

Services were 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Markland Funeral Home, Rising Sun, Indiana. Burial was in Rising Sun New Cemetery. Markland Funeral Home held visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service . Visitation was held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Willis Funeral Home, Gallipolis, Ohio.

Barbara Stow

Barbara Ann Stow, 84, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12th, 2016 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. Barbara was born in Jackson, MI on October 3, 1931, a daughter of the late Miriam (Schwartz) Higbee and Herbert James Thamer. She went to high school in Big Wolf Lake, MI where she graduated in 1949. She also attended Taylor University.

On June 25, 1955 she married Howard Royce Stow. Barbara and Howard were married 35 years until his passing on August 13, 1990. Barbara was a homemaker and worked along side her husband Howard and their children on the family dairy farm near Aberdeen. She also taught school in Vevay and Cass Union. She was a member of the Aberdeen United Methodist Church. Barbara was also a former member of the East Enterprise Home Ec Club and was a 4-H leader for several years. She enjoyed watching the Bengals and the Reds and was a league bowler for many years.

Barbara is survived by a daughter, Julia Castle, of Atlanta, GA; two sons Tom Stow and his wife Missy, of Fairview, IN and Ty Stow, of East Enterprise, IN. Barbara is also survived by grandchildren; Megan Kaufman, Elaine Castle, Jordyn Dana Stow, Casper Thomas Stow, Patrick Royce Stow, Briana Nicole Stow, Payton Sue Stow and by a great granddaughter, Miriam Violet Kaufman. She is also survived by sister-in-law Ella Grace Woodfill, of Lawrenceburg. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Howard, by a son, Kenneth Wayne Stow in 1993 and by a brother, Jimmy Thamer.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m., Monday, July 18th at the Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Aberdeen United Methodist Church. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun, IN serving the family.

Clayton Koons

Clayton E. Koons, 79, of Hoosier Boy Apts. in Rising Sun, passed away July 9 at the Cincinnati OH Veterans Hospital.

Clayton was born at Pleasant ,IN on March 3, 1937, the son of the late Wuanita (Gullion) Koons and Harold Clayton Koons. He was a graduate of Patriot High School Class of 1955. He was a member of the Patriot Baptist Church.

Clayton was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1955. He graduated from Cooking School and was a paratrooper.

He married Linda Thomas from Harrison, OH. To this union two sons were born: Terry Lee Koons and Billy Joe Koons.

Clayton will be remembered as a hard working man who liked to help people. He would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. Clayton was a heavy equipment operator for construction companies in Ohio. He enjoyed working with horses and did some fishing.

Clayton will be dearly missed by former wife Linda (Thomas Koons) Wells, his sons Terry Lee (Shelly) Koons of Tampa FL and Billy Joe (Kelly) Koons of Aurora IN; his grandchildren Michael Ellington, Allie Ellington, David (Ashley) Koons, Gregg (Stephanie) Koons, Tyler Koons and Haeden Koons and four great-grandchildren; his sisters Kathryn (Koons Gurley) Turner of Patriot IN and Rita Jo (Koons) Dowdy of Aurora IN; nieces and nephews.

Family received friends on Saturday, July 16 at the Minges Funeral Home in Harrison OH. Memorial contributions may be made to D.A.V. or the Cancer Society.

Lauragene Filsell

Mrs. Lauragene (Cutter) Filsell, age 74, of Versailles, Indiana, entered this life on January 29, 1942, in Milan, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Clarence Robert and Aldean Irene (Cleeter) Cutter. She was raised in Fairview, Indiana and later moved to Abingdon, Virginia where she attended high school through her junior year. Lauragene moved back to Switzerland County, Indiana where she was a 1960 graduate of Vevay High School.

She earned her Bachelors in education in 1964 from Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. Lauragene was united in marriage on July 10, 1965 in Evansville, Indiana to the late, Donald Ray Wittmer and to this union arrived two daughters, Laura and Laurene to bless their home. She earned her Masters degree in education in 1966 from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Lauragene was later united in marriage on September 22, 1984 at the Clifty Falls State Park in Madison, Indiana, to the late, Bruce Edward Filsell. Lauragene and Bruce shared nearly 31 years of marriage together until he passed away on February 22, 2015.

Lauragene was a former Teacher for the Lawrenceburg High School in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and for South Ripley High School where she taught English and Spanish, retiring in 1971. Lauragene was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church in Versailles, Indiana. She resided the past 50 years in the Versailles community. Lauragene enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and will be remembered for her love of sewing, cooking and working crossword puzzles.

Lauragene passed away at 7:50 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Waters of Batesville in Batesville, Indiana.

Lauragene will be dearly missed by her daughters: Laura Freese and her husband: Paul of Batesville, IN and Laurene Wittmer of North Vernon, IN; her grandsons: Justin Wittmer and Levi and Eli Freese; her step-grandsons: Eric and Kyle Freese; her brothers: Arlen Cutter of Fairview, IN, Denzil Cutter of Fairview, IN and Dean Cutter of Versailles, IN and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence Robert Cutter, died October 30, 1981 and Aldean Irene (Cleeter) Cutter, died March 10, 2004; her 1st husband: Donald Ray Wittmer, died July 16, 2005 and her 2nd husband, Bruce Edward Filsell, died February 22, 2015.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 20, 2016, by Rev. Dick Burcham, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
