Rosemary Gaylord
Rosemary Gaylord, 68, of Buchanan, Tennessee, passed away Friday, May 29th, 2015, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
She was born April 3rd, 1947, in Vevay, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Gladys (Bray) Jackson. She was a member of the Paris Community Bible Church and the Paris Landing Senior Center. She enjoyed being a grandmother and was a very loving mom.
On July 30th, 1971, she married Jerrill Wayne Gaylord and he died October 3rd, 1989.
Survivors include her sons, Stephen (Teresa) Bleigh of Woodlawn, Tennessee, Richard (Sam) Bleigh of Crestview, Florida, Jeffery (Jennifer) Gaylord of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Bobby (Cindy) Gaylord of McKenzie, Tennessee; her sisters, Louise (Danny) Shaw of Versailles and Nancy (Billy) Lock of Vevay; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Curtis Jackson and Harold Jackson; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 1st, at LeDon Chapel Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Roger Wallace officiating. Interment was in Tansil Cemetery in Sharon, Tennessee.
Donald Rucker
Donald Eugene “Shorty” Rucker, 81, of Hope, passed from this life at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Born in Vevay, January 8th, 1934, Mr. Rucker was the son of Stanley and Amanda Johnson Rucker. Mr. Rucker retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1994 where he had worked for 32 years. After retirement he worked at the Senior Center for 15 years. Prior to working at Cummins Mr. Rucker was employed at the Vevay shoe factory for U.S. Shoe Corporation and was active in farming.
He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church and Hope Masonic Lodge #150.
He enjoyed grilling, was known for his BBQ sauce, going to Myrtle Beach and spending time with his grandchildren and was a Navy veteran.
He married Betty Oakley December 28th, 1957.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Rucker; his daughter, Denise (Ben) Flora of Tega Cay, South Carolina; his son, Kevin (Lori) Rucker of Hope; his sister, Barbara (Carl) Burlew of Hope; his grandchildren, Jason (Tasia) Flora of Tega Cay, South Carolina, Jennifer (Andrew) Gillespie of Columbus, Ohio, Brittany Flora of Columbus, Ohio, Casey Rucker and Michael Rucker, both of Columbus; his sister-in-law, Ruth Rucker of Canaan; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Leonard and Lewis Rucker; and his sisters, Bernice Wright and Cora Brown.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 5th, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street in Hope, with Dr. William E. Bailey officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday, June 4th) and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hawcreek Baptist Cemetery in Hope.
A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home by the Hope Masonic Lodge.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, American Heart Association or the donor’s choice of charity.
