Patricia Purnell

Patricia Ann “Trisha” Purnell, age 62, of Mount Holly, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday June 18th, 2017, at her residence.

Trisha entered this life on July 23rd, 1954, in Madison, the daughter of the late Eddie B. and Jean Marie (Hall) Purnell. She was raised in Vevay, where she was a 1973 graduate of the Switzerland County High School.

Trisha was employed in the food industry for several years.

Trisha will be missed by her son: Scott Brewer and his wife: Julie of Madison; by her grandchildren: Kyle Thomas Brewer of Trevose, Pennsylvania; Gage Vincent Brewer of Madison; and Cheyney Marie Brewer of Madison; by her brothers: Eddie C. Purnell of Columbus, Indiana and Pete Purnell of Vevay; by her sisters: Mary Heath and her husband: Gary of Madison and Judy Ritch and her husband: Dave of Tupelo, Mississippi; and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Eddie B. and Jean Marie (Hall) Purnell.

Friends may call noon until 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 1st, 2017, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Memorial services will then be conducted on Saturday, July 1st, at 1 p.m. by Brother Anthony Wilks at the funeral home.

Glen Waren

Glen Arthur Waren, age 91, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, June 25th, 2017, at the St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital in Indianapolis.

Glen entered this life on January 31st, 1926, in Hume, Illinois, the loving son of the late Francis and Mana (Tucker) Waren. He was raised in Hume, Illinois where he was a 1944 graduate of the Hume High School.

Glen was united in marriage on July 5th, 1952, in Indianapolis, to Alberta Griffith and to this union arrived two sons: Randy and Robert; and a daughter: Rebecca to bless their home. Glen and Alberta shared 65 years of marriage together until his death.

Glen was employed as Superintendent for Shiel Sexton Construction in Indianapolis, retiring in 1992, after 30 years of service. He attended the Hume Christian Church in Hume, Illinois. Glen will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.

Glen will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 65 years: Alberta (Griffith) Waren of Indianapolis; his sons: Randy Waren and his wife: Ann of Fishers, Indiana and Robert Waren of Indianapolis; his son-in-law: Mike Hankins of Martinsville, Indiana; by his grandchildren: Kenton Hankins, Kevin Hankins, Isabelle Waren and Jack Waren; his great-granddaughter: Zoey Hankins; and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Francis and Mana (Tucker) Waren; his daughter: Rebecca Hankins; his brothers: Tom, Russell, Marion, Ernie and Bernie Waren and his sisters: Clara Heath, Rhetta Draper and Ardella Isham.

Graveside services were conducted on Wednesday, June 28th, 2017, at 11 a.m., by Pastor Chris Clemans at the Vevay Cemetery, 800 East Main Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Friends were invited to call on the family prior to the beginning of the service at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043.

Reverend Howard Wade

Reverend Howard Edward Wade, age 64, of Vevay, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23rd, 2017, at his residence.

Howard entered this life on March 11th, 1953, in Madison, the loving son of the late Edward Norton and Dorothy Faye (Barnes) Wade. He was raised in Carrollton, Kentucky where he was a 1971 graduate of the Carrollton High School. Howard graduated in 1989 from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Howard was united in marriage on August 25th, 1972, at the Ghent Baptist Church in Ghent, Kentucky, to Bonnie Ruth Skirvin and to this union arrived two daughters: April and Michelle; and a son: Christopher, to bless their home. Howard and Bonnie shared nearly 45 loving years of marriage together until his sudden passing.

He was the Meat Manager for Parkview IGA in Carrollton, Kentucky, for 20 years. Howard served as Pastor of the Concord Community Church from 1987 to 1992. Howard served as Pastor for Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Greensburg, Indiana, from 1993 to 1995. He served as Pastor of the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, from March, 1995 to 2008. Howard served as Pastor for Baptist Temple in Logansport, Indiana for 6 1/2 years. He resided in the Logansport, Indiana community for several years while in the ministry and later moved back to the Vevay community that he always called “Home”.

Howard served as Pastor for Cross Plains Baptist Church for one year and had been serving as Associate Pastor for the Spring Branch Baptist Church for the past year. He was a former member of the Vevay Lions Club since 1995. Howard was a former chaplain for the King’s Daughters’ Hospital and for Hospice of King’s Daughter’s in Madison, since 2003. Howard enjoyed pastoring worship services on Tuesdays at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay. He also enjoyed collecting Route 66 memorabilia and lighthouses.

He also enjoyed studying the origin of hymns and fishing, but most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:31.

Reverend Howard Wade will be deeply missed by his loving wife of nearly 45 years: Bonnie Ruth (Skirvin) Wade of Vevay; his daughters: April Lynn Mullins and her companion: Gregory of Vevay and Michelle Leigh Wade of Harrison, Ohio; his son: Christopher Howard Wade and his wife: Julie of Madison; his granddaughter they raised: Jennifer Brown of Ghent, Kentucky; his granddaughter: Brittany Michelle Brown of Logansport, Indiana; his grandson: Christian David Mullins of Vevay; his great-grandchildren: Savannah Rose Pavy, Sarah Allen, Benjamin Allen, Danielle Allen and Lillyann Peltz; his brother: Reverend Robert “Bobby” Allen Wade and his wife: Pam of Bedford, Kentucky; his sister: Sandra Jean Wagoner and her husband: Keith of Bedford, Kentucky; and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward Norton and Dorothy Faye (Barnes) Wade; and his sister: Burnetta Faye Wade.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 29th, 2017, at 11 a.m., at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends were invited to call on the family from 4-8 p.m., on Wednesday, June 28th, at the funeral home.

Dorothy Jacobs

Dorothy M. (Watkins) Jacobs, age 90, of Vevay, passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, June 24th, 2017, at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dorothy entered this life on July 8th, 1926 in Morris, Illinois, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Olive (Stevens) Watkins.

She was united in marriage on November 3rd, 1974 in Canaan, Indiana, to the late Estall L. Jacobs. Dorothy and Estall shared 21 years of marriage together until his death on January 2nd, 1996.

Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker and was employed for a nursing home in Chicago, Illinois. She attended the Ebenezer Wesleyan Church near Moorefield, and was a member of the Peru Baptist Church in Peru, Illinois.

Dorothy will be missed by her sisters: Louise Sminesvik of Fargo, North Dakota and Evelyn Brough of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and her several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents: Benjamin and Olive (Stevens) Watkins; by her husband: Estall L. Jacobs, who died on January 2nd, 1996; her twin brother: Clarence Watkins; her brothers: Edward, Ernest, Robert and John Watkins and her infant sister.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 27th, 2017, by Pastor David Dicken at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment followed in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison. Friends were invited to call on the family on Tuesday, June 27th, prior to the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.

Beverly Fockler

Beverly Ann (Rose) Fockler, age 59, of Vevay, passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Monday, June 26th, 2017, at her residence.

Beverly entered this life on May 6th, 1958, in Montgomery, Alabama, the daughter of Marshall Gene and the late, Sandy Faye (Grady) Rose. She was raised in Auburn, Alabama and in Milpitas, California; and was a 1976 graduate of the Samuel Ayer High School in Milpitas, California.

Beverly was united in marriage on May 28th, 1983, in Carmel, California, to Gregory Fockler and to this union arrived four daughters: Heather, Hollie, Shawnee and Jasmine, to bless their home. Beverly and Gregory shared over 34 years of marriage together until her death.

She was a former employee for Williams Food Service in Madison, for several years. Beverly was employed as a Room Inspector for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, for the past eight years. Beverly enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and vacationing in Mexico.

Beverly will be deeply missed by her husband of over 34 years: Gregory Fockler of Vevay; her daughters: Heather Peelman and her husband, Dusty of Vevay; Hollie Crepin and her husband, John of Vevay; Shawnee Williams of Aurora; and Jasmine Cummins and her husband, Durand of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Zoe, Brenden, Logan, Aubrey, Mackenzie, Skylar, Graham, Sawyer, Everley, McKaila, Mason, Madden, Mylan, Jade, David, Paige, Peyton, Riley and one grandson on the way; by her father: Glenn Marshall Rose of Calabasas, California; by her brothers: Ken Rose of Eugene, Oregon and Marshall Rose of Sunnyville, California; and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Sandy Faye (Grady) Rose.

Friends may call 4-6 p.m. on Friday, June 30th, 2017, at the Jack Sullivan Senior Citizen Building 305 Walnut Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Memorial services will be conducted Friday, June 30th, at 6 p.m., by Brother Shawn McMullen, at the Jack Sullivan Senior Citizen Building.

Christine Ellis

Christine Marie (Spencer) Ellis, age 50, of Florence, passed away at 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20th, 2017, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.

Christine entered this life on August 8th, 1966 in Alexandria, Virginia, the daughter of Tony and Brenda Marie (Grubb) Finley. She was a 1984 graduate of the Judson High School in Converse, Texas.

She was inducted into the United States Army on August 9th, 1984 and was discharged with the rank of Private on August 1st, 1985.

Christine was united in marriage on December 7th, 1990 to Alan Wayne Ellis at the Vevay American Legion Post #185 in Vevay.

She was employed as a cook for the Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence. Christine was later employed for Deaton’s Market in Warsaw, Kentucky and for Circle K in Markland, Indiana. Christine resided in the Switzerland County community for several years. Christine enjoyed her dogs, cooking and listening to music.

Christine will be dearly missed by her husband: Alan Wayne Ellis of Florence; her parents: Tony and Brenda Marie (Grubb) Finley; and her brother James Lee Finley and his wife: Wendy of Mountain Park, Oklahoma.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, June 26th, 2017, by Brother Roy Duckworth at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road Madison, Indiana, 47250. Interment followed in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison.

Friends were invited to call on the family on Monday, June 26th, prior to the beginning of the service at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel.

Stephen Craven

Stephen Wayne Craven, 48, of Little Elm, Texas, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 22nd, 2017, at his residence.

Stephen was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, on September 3rd, 1968, the son of the late Janet (Jennings) and Harlan Jack Craven. He was a graduate of South Dearborn High School, Class of 1986.

Stephen proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Stephen worked mainly in the printing industry as a press operator. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, Indiana.

Stephen married Christina (Sheets) Craven on June 29th, 1996 at the Rising Sun Church of Christ. Stephen enjoyed a wide variety of music and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to his loving wife Christina, Stephen is also survived by three sisters: Linda Knauber, of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Stacie Alexander, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Lisa Ridge, of Ewing, New Jersey; by a brother, Michael Craven, of Jacksonville, Arkansas; by his father and mother-in-law, Doug and Sharon Sheets, of Rising Sun; and by several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 1st at the Rising Sun New Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Friday 6-8 p.m. at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Memorial donations may be made to the family. Cards are available at the funeral home.

Salomon Panche

Salomon Panche, age 78, of Cross Plains, Indiana died on Saturday, June 24th, 2017 at the Kentuckiana Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, in Madison, Indiana.

Robert Niklas

Robert J. Niklas, 91, Bright, Indiana, passed away on June 18th, 2017.

Robert was the beloved husband for 70 years of Carmella C. Niklas (nee Wesselman); loving father of Janice (Boyd) Teeter of near Pleasant; Judy (Richard) Plogsted; Joe (Michelle); and Jon (Nyetta) Niklas. He was the devoted grandpa of 12, including Rob Teeter of Somerset, Kentucky; Doug Teeter of Fairview; Missy Stow of Fairview; and Tammy Halstenburg of Fairview; great grandpa of 17, and one on the way.

He was also the dear brother of Sr. Joan Terese, SND; and the late Richard Niklas and Sr. Mary Johanna, RSM.

Robert was an Army veteran of World War II; and was a longtime letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. Robert was an avid Square Dancer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 29th, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, 23345 Gavin Lane, Bright, Indiana. Burial with military honors will be held at St. Joe’s Old Cemetery. Preston Michael Brown

Preston Michael Brown entered this life still-born on June 20th, 2017 at 2:54 p.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Preston’s expected date of birth was August 11th, 2017, and his parents were so excited to be expecting another son.

Preston will be missed by his heartbroken parents, Douglas E. and Amber Nicole Phillips Brown of Madison; his loving big sisters: Mercedes Marie Brown and Arianna Nichole Brown; and his loving big brother: Norman Douglas Brown, II all of Madison.

He will also be dearly missed by his paternal grandfather, Douglas E. Brown and his wife, Mary of Rising Sun; his paternal grandmother, Billie Wesley of Florence, Kentucky; his maternal grandfather, Steven Eugene Phillips and his wife, Janie of Pensacola, Florida; his maternal grandmother, Paula Colwell of Madison; his aunts and uncles: Tonya and John Cann; Louann Brown, Michael Phillips, and Lyle Kittle; several great aunts, great uncles, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Norman and Puallette Brown; Rose and Bill Wesley; and Annette Carter.
