Vandora Mae (McClellan) Bennett, 95, of Reynoldsvile, West Virginia, formerly of East Enterprise, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Friday, May 24th, 2013, at Heartland Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
She was born August 30th, 1917, in Switzerland County, the loving daughter of the late Dilmer and Susie (Noble) McClellan. She was raised in Switzerland County where she attended school.
She was united in marriage on August 14th, 1937, in Vevay, to the late William J. “Bill” Bennett. Unto this union one daughter, Linda, arrived. They shared nearly 53 years of marriage together until his death.
Vandora and Bill Bennett farmed most of their lives. She was a member of the East Enterprise Extension Homemakers Club, Switzerland County Farm Bureau and Markland Baptist Church. She resided most of her life in Switzerland County. She was a wonderful homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her two grandchildren, Mark Flood and wife Angela of Reynoldsville, West Virginia; and Danny Flood of East Enterprise; and her three great-grandchildren, Christopher Flood, Stephanie Flood Buchanan and Amanda Flood.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, William J. “Bill” Bennett on January 6th, 1990; her daughter, Linda L. Flood on October 12th, 2011; her son-in-law, Melvin G. Flood; and her sister, Helen Marie McClellan.
Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Bobby Brundige, Jr., on Wednesday, May 29th, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery. Kevin Wesley O’Connor, 43, of Vevay, passed away at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 21st, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was born July 10th, 1969, in Lawrenceburg, the son of the late James K. “Jimmy” and Geneva (Cunningham) O’Connor. He was raised in Lawrenceburg where he attended school. He was a former CNA for several nursing home facilities. He was a former employee of Pri-Pak, Inc., in Lawrenceburg. He was employed in housekeeping at Belterra Casino Resort and Spa in Florence until his health no longer permitted. He enjoyed taking pictures of his friends and family and making people laugh. He loved to babysit his nephew’s little boy, Colton James Hite. He was a loving stepfather and brother.
Survivors include his stepson, Shawn Bishop of Worthville, Kentucky; his five brothers, Robert E. Cunningham of Vevay, Russell H. Morrison of Vevay, Eddie Cunningham of Patriot, Jimmy O’Connor and wife Delma of Carrollton, Kentucky, and Joe O’Connor of Patriot; his sister, Teresa Durbin and husband Blake of Carrollton, Kentucky; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl Wesley and Mary Louise Robinson Cunningham and Joe and Josephine O’Connor; his two brothers, Ronnie Dale Cunningham and Frances Lane O’Connor; his nephew, Keith Patrick O’Connor; his niece, Bobbie Jean O’Connor; his three cousins, Rebecca McQueary, Jacob Thomas Hughes and Pee Wee Cuneo; and his uncle and aunts, Stanley Wayne and Linda Lou Cunningham and Ida Mae O’Connor.
Funeral services were conducted by Brother Floyd Baker Tuesday, May 28th, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery.
