Linda Walker

Linda Faye Walker, 76, of Rising Sun, passed away at 10:24 p.m. on Saturday, December 17th, 2016, at Ripley Crossing Nursing Facility in Milan, Indiana.

Linda was born on Woods Ridge in Ohio County on July 11th, 1940, the daughter of the late Ethel Esther (Johnston) Robinson Ludwig and Russell Courtney Robinson. She grew up on Woods Ridge and attended Cass-Union School. She graduated in 1958 from Rising Sun High School.

On June 14th, 1958 she married Benjamin E. Walker at the Rising Sun Church of Christ by Dr. Jack Cotrell. Linda and Benny were married over 58 love-filled years.

Linda retired from S&O Insurance in Rising Sun where she was a clerk and receptionist. She also worked as a medical receptionist in Dearborn County and was Ohio County Highway Clerk for several years.

Linda was a life long member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ where she was baptized the same day as her mother. She was very active in the church and helped with VBS, youth groups and was a mentor to young women. Linda was also a 25 year member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, a member of the Young Hearts Home-Ec Club and a Lifeline volunteer. She was also past President of the PTO at the Rising Sun Grade School and a room mom.

Linda was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing. She also enjoyed traveling, crocheting, sewing and growing flowers. Even though Linda had a career, was active in many organizations and had many interests, her number one priority was being a mother and providing a loving home for her husband and children.

Linda is survived by her husband Benny Walker of Rising Sun; by three daughters: Stephanie Scott (Randy) of Rising Sun; Terri Lammers (David) of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Angie Edwards (Wayne) of Madison; by a son: Benjie Walker (Shelley) of Columbus, Indiana; by grandchildren: Jaime Heffelmire (Scott), Jessica Scott, Jake Lammers, Beth Lammers, Aaron Edwards (Dew), Benjamin Walker, Emily Walker and Samantha Walker; and by great grandchildren: Brennan Monroe, Gracie Gregory, Rory Heffelmire, Reese Heffelmire, Lyndee Hollin, Johanna Hollin and Isabella Edwards.

Linda is also survived by two sisters, June Dittmer (Gerald) of Rising Sun and Myrt Bennett (Loren) of Rising Sun; by a brother: Russell Robinson (Jean) of Rising Sun; and by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by a granddaughter, Breanna Edwards; and by a sister, Ruby Baker.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 22nd at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Brother Greg Matthew officiating. Friends were invited to call on Wednesday, December 21st, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Ripley Crossing Activity Fund or the Alzheimer’s Support Group of Southeastern Indiana. Cards are available at the funeral home.

Ruth Rariden

Ruth Carolyn (Wiley) Rariden, age 89, of Vevay, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, December 19th, 2016, in Vevay.

Ruth entered this life on February 24th, 1927, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of the late Leslie Benjamin and Grace (Faux) Wiley. She was raised in Anderson, where she was a 1944 graduate of Anderson High School.

Ruth was united in marriage on December 24th, 1944, in Anderson, to the late Robert Sterling Rariden, and to this union arrived two daughters: Julia and Leslie, to bless their home. Ruth and Robert shared 67 years of marriage together until Robert passed away in 2011.

Ruth owned and operated Ruth’s Fabric Store in Anderson, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Anderson Church of the Brethren in Anderson.

Ruth resided in the Vevay community for the past five years.

Ruth will be dearly missed by her daughter: Julia Kay Wright and her husband: Bob of Vevay; her grandchildren: Molly Wright and her fiancé: Travis Webster of Rising Sun; and Matthew Wiley of Cleveland, Tennessee; by her great-grandchildren: Buffi Hatfield, Nicole Wiley, William Smith, Giuliana Smith, Travis Webster, Jr. and Krosley Webster; and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Leslie Benjamin and Grace (Faux) Wiley; by her husband of 67 years: Robert Sterling Rariden; her daughter: Leslie Carol Wiley; her grandchildren: B.J. Wright and Collin Wright; her brothers: Fred, Marvin, Joe, Robert and Tom Wiley; and her sisters: Virginia Hervey and Mary Nye.

No services are being held at this time.

Bobby Darnell

Bobby Ray Darnell, 84, of Vevay passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Friday, December 16th, 2016 at his residence.

Born May 23rd, 1932 in Pikeville, Kentucky, Bobby was the son of Charlie and Tory Coleman Darnell.

He married Franzie Edwards on April 18th, 1955; and she preceded him in death on October 31st, 2013.

Bobby was a 1950 graduate of Fredericks High School in Fredericks Kentucky and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Union Steward and parts manager for the Ford Motor Company in Evendale, Ohio from February 13th, 1969 until February 1st, 1984; and also worked at F&N Air Conditioning and Refrigeration in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was a member of North Brook Trinity Baptist and the V.F.W. both in Cincinnati, Ohio. He enjoyed going to church, singing at church and fishing.

He is survived by his daughter, Nanetta Darnell of Vevay; and a grandson, Michael Karnuth of Milan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Tory Darnell; his wife, Franzie Darnell; and brothers, Arthur and Scott Darnell.

Private Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date.
