Larry Rector

Larry J. Rector, of Vevay, formerly of Muncie, Indiana, passed away at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13th, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Meeks Mortuary, 415 East Washington Street, Muncie, Indiana, 47305.

Margaret Montgomery

Jennie Margaret Montgomery, 95, of Rising Sun, passed away at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 10th, 2016, at The Waters of Rising Sun.

Margaret was born in Pendleton County, Kentucky, on June 30th, 1921, the daughter of the late Nellie (Belew) and Frank Bowling. Margaret spent her early life in Kentucky and later moved to Indiana when she was a teenager.

On January 28th, 1946 she married Fredrick B. Montgomery, who passed away in 1992.

In addition to being a homemaker, Margaret worked at the Aurora Shoe Factory, Aurora Chair and retired from the Aurora Casket Company. She was very active in the community and was a member of the Ohio County Historical Society and was a Home Ec Club member. When she was able to attend, Margaret was a faithful member of the Rising Sun First Baptist Church where she was active in the Baptist Women’s Group and assisted with Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed playing piano and doing craft work.

Margaret was a loving mother and her home was always open to her children’s friends.

Margaret is survived by a daughter: Cathy Worley (Jerry), of Aurora, Indiana; a son: James “Jay” Montgomery, of Canaan, Indiana; and a step son: Larry Montgomery, of Rising Sun; by three grandchildren: Jason Montgomery, Jamey Montgomery, and Teddy Gay; by two great grandchildren: Jarrett and Jayden Montgomery; and by several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Fred; by a grandson Jay Montgomery; by brothers: Woodrow, Paul, Clarence and Herbert Bowling; and by sisters Juanita Davis and Betty Jane Bowling.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 14th at the Rising Sun First Baptist Church, with Reverend Jim Jenkins officiating. Visitation was on Wednesday prior to the beginning of the service at the church. Burial was at Cedar Hedge Cemetery in Rising Sun.

Memorial donations may be made to the Rising Sun First Baptist Church. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun is serving the family.

Ethel Claypoole

Ethel Irene (Francis) Claypoole, age 83, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away at 8:42 a.m. on Monday, December 12th, 2016, at her residence.

Ethel entered this life on January 6th, 1933, in Brown County, Ohio, the loving daughter of the late Robert Cecil and Alma Ethel (Gaffin) Francis. She was raised in Hamersville, Ohio, where she was a 1952 graduate of Hamersville High School.

Ethel was united in marriage on February 21st, 1953, in Brookville, Kentucky, to the late Wayne Taylor Claypoole, and to this union arrived four sons: Kenneth, Thurman, George and John; and five daughters: Frances, Barbara, Roberta, Ruth and Norma, to bless their home. Ethel and Wayne shared 43 loving years of marriage together until Wayne passed away on February 22nd, 1996.

Ethel was a former line worker for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay for several years. She was also employed for the Barrell Factory in Vevay for one year and for Coney Island in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was baptized at the Spring Branch Baptist Church in Switzerland County. Ethel resided in the Switzerland County community since 1967. Ethel was a wonderful homemaker and will be dearly missed by her loving family.

Ethel will be dearly missed by her sons: Kenneth Claypoole of St. Paul, Indiana; Thurman Claypoole of Vevay; George Claypoole and his wife: Lisa of Florence, Indiana; and John Claypoole and his wife: Tammy of Patriot; by her daughters: Frances Cochran of Patriot; Barbara Gurley of Rising Sun; Roberta McKay and her husband: Russell of Patriot; Ruth Rose and her husband: Dale of Patriot; and Norma Montgomery and her husband: Rob of East Enterprise.

She will also be missed by her 22-grandchildren: Braden Claypoole, Andrea Claypoole, Tiffany Claypoole, Caleb Claypoole, Tara Romans, Jeremy Romans, Timmy Gurley Lewis, Terry Gurley Lewis, Dale Rose, Jr., Jenna Felts, Wayne Cochran, Cody Cochran, Kacey Claypoole, Lacey White, Abbey Hahn, Chelsea Claypoole, Johnny Claypoole, Rusty McKay, Zack McKay, Brandi Lewis, Brady Lewis and Berry Montgomery; by her 32-great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert Cecil and Alma Ethel (Gaffin) Francis; by her husband: Wayne Taylor Claypoole, who died on February 22nd, 1996; her sons-in-law: Timothy Joe Gurley and Frank Ervin Cochran, Jr.; her grandson: Justin William Claypoole; her great-granddaughter: Anna Marissa Montgomery; and by her sisters: Phyllis Francis, Bonnie Clifton, Janice Forbes, Eloise Yockey and Betty Hampton.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 15th, 2016, at 7 p.m., by Reverend Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 16th, at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Feesburg, Ohio.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 15th, at the funeral home.
