Daniel Starker

  Daniel “Danny” Starker, age 72, of Rising Sun, passed away with his loving family by his side at 6:09 p.m. on Thursday, November 14th, 2019, at his daughter’s residence in Patriot.

  Danny entered this life on June 24th, 1947, in Milan, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Gerald R. Starker and Leona (Mefford) Starker Bruestle. Danny was raised in Aurora and Lawrenceburg, Indiana where he attended school.

  Danny was inducted into the United State Army on December 4, 1967, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and Marksmanship M-14. Danny was honorably discharged with the rank of Private on November 15, 1969 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

  Danny was a jack of all trades and enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. Often times he never knew what he would be doing from week to week and was always working on something. Danny always did what he wanted to do, even if you didn’t always agree with him.

  He also enjoyed race cars, dirt track racing and attending the Lawrenceburg Speedway. Danny was a member of the Dillsboro American Legion Post #292. He was a former member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185, Vevay VFW Post #5396 and Aurora American Legion Post #241. He was also a former member of the Aurora Moose Lodge Chapter #1908.

  Danny was a member of the Ludlow Hill Baptist Church and attended the Bible Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Danny will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.

  Danny will be missed by his daughters: Danielle Hutchinson and her husband Will of Patriot and Lynana Scudder of Patriot; by his grandchildren: Shane Scudder, Jordyn Scudder, Justice Bledsoe, Lucas Hutchinson, Olivia Hutchinson and Ava Hutchinson; by his great-grandchildren, Maddix and Brayson; by his sisters: Lavonne Wilson and her husband Art of Independence, Kentucky and Sharon Adams and her husband Steve of Aurora, Indiana; and by his nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Starker, who died on September 28th, 1993; by his mother, Leona (Mefford) Starker Bruestle, who died on November 20th, 1998; by his sister, Joan Franks; by his brothers, David and Donald Starker; by his niece, Christy Starker; and by his nephew, Joel Wilson.

  Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 21st, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 21st, at 1 p.m., by Reverend Joseph Hart, at the funeral home.

  Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the Eastview Cemetery, Patriot.

Carol Springer

  Carol Dean (Toole) Springer, age 89, of Mt. Sterling, Indiana, passed away at 3:47 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at the Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

  Carol entered this life on March 28th, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the loving daughter of the late Garland Hugh and Gertrude Virginia (Edwards) Toole. She was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio where she attended high school.

  Carol was united in marriage on October 3rd, 1951, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, to the late Donald Springer. This happy union was blessed with four daughters and seven sons.

  Carol was employed for the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay, retiring after nine years of service. She was a member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church and had resided in the Switzerland County community since 1972. Carol enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

  Carol will be missed by her sons: Gary Springer and his wife Sharon of Lamb, Donald Timothy Springer of Vevay, Kenny Springer of Vevay, Thomas Springer of Vevay, Douglas Springer and his wife Bev of Osgood, Indiana, Phillip Springer and his wife Robin of Vevay, and Joseph Springer and his wife Gwen of North Vernon, Indiana; by her daughters: Donna Jo Nelson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rebecca Carol Meyer of Vevay, Colleen Cox and her husband James of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Deborah Springer of Vevay; by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Joan Ellen Lee of Georgetown, Kentucky.

  She was preceded in death by her parents: Garland Hugh and Gertrude Virginia (Edwards) Toole; by her brothers: Larry and Jerry Toole; and by her sister, Roselyn Munson.

   Friends were invited to call on the family on Friday, November 15th, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Funeral services were conducted following the time of visitation on Friday, November 15th, by Reverend Mike Jones at the funeral home. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.

Wilbur ‘Dale’ Poling

  Wilbur “Dale” Poling, age 59, of near Quercus Grove, passed away on Monday November 11th, 2019, at the Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

  Dale entered this life on April 2nd, 1960, in Madison. He was the loving son of Wilbur E. “Webb” and Linda L. (Green) Poling. He was raised in Switzerland County, where he was a 1978 graduate of Switzerland County High School.

  In 1979, Dale was employed in maintenance for the Indiana Department of Transportation for the Aberdeen Unit, retiring in 2016 after 37 years of service. Dale enjoyed playing softball, rabbit hunting, basketball especially IU and spending time with his loving family.

  Wilbur will be missed by his loving mother, Linda L. (Green) Poling of near Quercus Grove; by his brothers: Michael R. Poling and his wife Carol of near Quercus Grove and Steven G. Poling of Patriot; by his nieces: Shaina Watson and her husband Jake of Rising Sun and Shelby Lucas and her husband Andy of Rising Sun; by his great-nieces and great-nephew: Kali Watson, Kyndal Watson, Kadence Watson, Adeleigh Lucas and Case Lucas; and by his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

  He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur E. “Webb” Poling, who died on February 6th, 2002.

  Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, November 16th, 2019, by Reverend Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery. Friends were invited to call on the family on Friday, November 15th, at the funeral home.

Garry Forwood

  Garry Wayne Forwood, age 72, of Rising Sun, formerly of Vevay, passed away at 12:14 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019, at his residence in Rising Sun.

  He entered this life on October 25th, 1947, in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Harold Edwin and Leo Margaret (Osborn) Forwood. He was raised in Switzerland County, where he was a 1965 graduate of Vevay High School; and graduated in 1975 from the Police Academy.

  Garry was united in marriage on August 21st, 1984, in Pensacola, Florida, to Janet Sue Adam.

  Garry was employed as a police officer for the Town of Vevay from 1969-1974. He was employed as a Deputy Sheriff for Switzerland County from 1974-1977; and was later employed as Sheriff from 1977-1983. Garry was the community manager for the Sun Community Manufactured Homes in Merritt Island, Florida.

  He was a former member of the Long Run Baptist Church near Moorefield. Garry enjoyed farming and helping his son, Tim on the farm and driving tractors.

  Garry will be missed by his wife over 35 years, Janet Sue (Adam) Forwood of Rising Sun; by his daughter, Debra Weir and her husband Jeff of Commiskey, Indiana; by his son, Charles Timothy “Tim” White and his wife Teresa of Aurora, Indiana; by his grandchildren: Trenton Weir, James Weir, Heather Cook and her husband, Brad, and Timothy Adam White and his wife Samantha; by his great-grandchildren: Harper, Dean, Aiden and Aubree; by his brother, Jerold E. Forwood and his wife Dorothy of Madison, Alabama; by his nephew, Michael Todd Forwood; by his niece, Tamera Tubell; by his great-nephew, Riley Forwood; and by his great-niece, Alexandria Tubell.

  He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold Edwin Forwood, who died on September 5th, 1991; and Leo Margaret (Osborn) Forwood, who died on December 19th, 1999.

  Friends were invited to call on the family on Wednesday, November 20th, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Funeral services were conducted following the visitation on Wednesday, November 20th, by Reverend Mike Jones at the funeral home. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.
