Charles Wayne “C.W.” Furnish, 75, of Vevay, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016, at the Saint Elizabeth South Medical Center in Edgewood, Kentucky.

Dorothy Mae (Gray) Browning, age 97, of Vevay, passed away at 7:46 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8th, 2016, at the Manderley Health Care in Osgood, Indiana.
Dorothy entered this life on December 26th, 1918, in Owen County, Kentucky, the loving daughter of the late James Arthur and Ada Marie (Taylor) Gray. She was raised in Vevay, where she attended school.
Dorothy was united in marriage on March 7th, 1936, in Madison, to the late Lee Browning, and to this union arrived seven children to bless their home. Dorothy and Lee shared nearly 43 years of marriage together until he passed away on December 15th, 1979.
Dorothy owned and operated with her husband a farm on Pendleton Run Road in Vevay. At the age of 75, Dorothy could still cut 600 tobacco sticks a day. She was a member of the Bennington United Methodist Church in Bennington. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, working outside and setting and raising tobacco and was a hard worker. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by her son: James Browning of Bennington; her daughters: Helen Hounshell of Vevay; Mary Browning of Holton, Indiana; and Janet Scott and her husband: Gary of Vevay; her 18 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-great-granddaughter.
She is also survived by her sister: Betty Spears of Aurora, Indiana; and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James Arthur Gray, who died on June 22nd, 1960; and Ada Marie (Taylor) Gray, who died on October 17th, 1991; by her husband of nearly 43 years: Lee Browning, who died on December 15th, 1979; her son: Donald Lee Browning; her twin children: Carrol and Carolyn Browning; her granddaughter: Teresa Lynn Browning; her great-grandchildren: Isaac Bowman and Tyler James Smith; her brothers: Delvin, Mart, Luther, Chester and James Gray and her sisters: Kathryn Carlton, Mildred Jester, Aline Buck, Naomi McFarland and Judy Carlton.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, November 12th, 2016, by Reverend Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.
Friends were invited to call and pay their respects to the family on Friday, November 11th, at the funeral home.

Jeffrey Dean “Jeff” Minch, age 46, of Moorefield, passed away at 4:52 p.m. on Thursday, November 10th, 2016, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
Jeff entered this life on December 30th, 1969, in Greenfield, Indiana, the loving son of Bobby Dean Minch, whom preceded him in death; and Lynda (Dawson) Minch McKenzie. He was raised in Switzerland County, where he was a 1988 graduate of Switzerland County High School.
On November 14th, 1989 Jeff was blessed with a daughter, Ashley Nicole.
Jeff was inducted into the United States Navy on July 27th, 1992 in Louisville, Kentucky. He specialized as an electrical and mechanical equipment repairman and earned the National Defense Service Medal. Jeff was honorably discharged on November 29th, 1994 in Washington, D.C.
Jeff was united in marriage on April 20th, 1997, in Lamb, to Tina Switzer, and to this union arrived two daughters: Cheyenne and Shawnee, to bless their home. Jeff and Tina shared 19 years of marriage together until his death.
Jeff was currently employed as a diesel mechanic for Chandler Chevrolet in Madison for several years. He was a former diesel mechanic for Republic Diesel in Louisville, Kentucky and was a former employee for Legner in Trimble County, Kentucky; Artisan in Carroll County, Kentucky; Heckett Multiserv in Carroll County, Kentucky; and for Ohio Valley Asphalt in Carroll County, Kentucky.
Jeff resided all of his life in the Switzerland County community. He was a member of The Wagon Train Association. Jeff was affectionately known as “Ten Bears,” and was nicknamed that by the McKenzie family. Jeff enjoyed deer hunting, riding horses, crafting, but most of all, socializing with his friends and spending time with his family. Jeff will be dearly missed by his loving family and numerous friends.
Jeff will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 19 years: Tina (Switzer) Minch of Moorefield; his loving daughters: Ashley Nicole Harding and her husband: Ken of Covington, Kentucky; Cheyenne Minch of Moorefield and Shawnee Minch of Moorefield; his adoring grandchildren: Abri and Wesson Harding of Covington, Kentucky; his loving mother and step-father: Lynda (Dawson) and Hardly McKenzie of Vevay; his sister: Shannan L. Abrams and her husband: Joe of Hanover, Indiana; and his several uncles, aunts, cousins and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: Bobby Dean Minch, who died on August 8th, 1993; his paternal grandparents: Charles H. “C.H” and Frances (Wright) Minch; his maternal grandparents: Clyde and Zelpha (Reeves) Dawson and his cousin: William Joseph “Joey” Minch, who died on July 31st, 2016.
A Memorial Gathering was held on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043.
A Memorial Services followed at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 15th, at the funeral home; and full military rites were conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the home of Jeff and Tina Minch. All family and friends are invited to have a last drink in Jeff’s honor.

Wilbur “Pete” Lowe, age 81, of Vevay, passed away surrounded by his family at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 12th, 2016, at his residence.
Pete entered this life on November 20th, 1934, in Vevay, the loving son of the late Bryant and Addie Mae (Browning) Lowe. He was raised in Vevay, where he attended school.
Pete was united in marriage on August 7th, 1954, on Pleasant Ridge, to Carolyn Jean Scott, and to this union arrived a daughter, Jerri to bless their home. Pete and Carolyn shared 62 loving years of marriage together until his death.
Pete was employed as a toe puller for the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay, retiring in 1997, after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Florence Church of Christ in Florence. Pete’s proudest family moments were the births of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pete was a good pool and card player. He enjoyed his friends stopping to visit him while working in his woodshop at his home, riding on the golf cart with Buster and talking to Butch and his brother, Gayle.
Pete will be remembered for his love of woodworking and spending time with his family.
Pete will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 62 years: Carolyn Jean (Scott) Lowe of Vevay; his daughter: Jerri Lowe of Titusville, Florida; his grandchildren: Tracy Dickerson and his wife: Sara of Florence; Erin Lynn Harsin and her husband: Jeremy of Bennington; and Kristen Detloff and her husband: Lenny of Oak Hill, Florida; his great-grandchildren: Bralen and Azalee Harsin of Bennington; Jacob Dickerson of Florence; and McKayla Detloff of Oak Hill, Florida; his twin sister: Wilma Hamamey and her husband: Dave of Cleveland, Ohio; his brother: Gayle Lowe of Largo, Florida; his brother-in-law: Donald W. Allen of Vevay; and his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bryant and Addie Mae (Browning) Lowe; his great-grandson: Joshua Detloff; his sisters: Norma Earl, Kay Risley, Thelma Jean Allen and his infant sisters: Janet Lou and Leona Lowe; his brother: Robert “Bob” Lowe; his sister-in-law: Janice Lowe and his brother-in-law: Tom Earl.

Rebecca Ellen Smith, 76, of Ohio County, passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9th, 2016, at her residence.
Rebecca was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, on August 13th, 1940, the daughter of the late Mary Julia (Barker) and LD Lane. She was a graduate of William Henry Harrison High School, Class of 1958 and also attended Ball State University.
On January 22nd, 1982, she married Reuben John Smith, who passed away on July 30th, 2014.
Rebecca worked as a office manager at Comcast in Aurora, Indiana. She also worked for Central Elementary School in Lawrenceburg, and Rising Sun School Corporation helping children with special needs and remedial reading. Rebecca enjoyed gardening and was a faithful member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ.
Rebecca is survived by two sons: Troy Shawn Edwards of Rising Sun and Terrance Anthony Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio; by two step daughters: Kristin Noelle Kinnett of Florence, Kentucky and Holly Elizabeth Smith of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky; and by two stepsons: John David Smith of Lawrenceburg, Indiana and Jeffrey Todd Smith of Rising Sun.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: Emily Ellen Thomas, Jeffrey Reuben Smith, Elijah H. Smith, Brooke Elizabeth Smith, Cody Allen Smith and Matthew Oliver Kinnett; and by one great grandchild, Christopher Thomas. Also surviving are two sisters: Linda Jerd (Frank) of Florida and Julie Biddle (Dick) of Florida; by two brothers: Jim Lane (Sandy) of Harrison, Ohio and Terry Lane, of Harrison, Ohio; and by brother-in-law Fred R. Smith of Rising Sun.
She is also survived by extended family members James Morgan, Doug Brown and Ginger Love.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Reuben John Smith; by infant daughter Tammy Jo Breeden; and by daughter Stephanie Ann Edwards, who passed away in 1980.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 12th at the Rising Sun Church of Christ in Rising Sun, with Brother Nathan Pelehowski officiating. Friends were invited to call on the family on Saturday prior to the time of the service at the Rising Sun Church of Christ. Burial was at Greendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Dearborn County Hospice. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun is serving the family.
