Margaret Turner

Margaret Marie (Otter) Turner, age 79, of Florence, passed away at 10:10 p.m. on Friday, November 4th, 2016, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.

Margaret entered this life on October 26th, 1937, in Madison, the daughter of the late Royland A. “Roll” and Daisy (McFarland) Otter. She was raised in Five Points, Indiana, and was a 1955 graduate of Vevay High School.

Margaret was united in marriage to Stanley Lee Turner on August 18th, 1956, at the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, and to this union arrived a daughter: Teresa; and a son: Stanley, to bless their home. Margaret and Stanley shared nearly 47 years of marriage together until Stanley passed away on May 17th, 2003.

Margaret owned and operated Florence General Store in Florence, from 1960 to 1970. Margaret and Stanley purchased a farm on Bethel Ridge in 1971 to 1987. She resided most of her life in the Florence community. She was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 Ladies Auxiliary and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 Ladies Auxiliary. Margaret was baptized by Reverend Mike Barnes at her home a few months ago.

Margaret enjoyed sewing and wintering for 13 years in Homosassa Springs, Florida and was a good friend and neighbor to many. Margaret will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her daughter: Teresa Turner of Florence; her son: Stanley Ray Turner of Sanders, Kentucky; her grandchildren: Stanley Ray Turner, Jr. and his wife: Liz;, Shane Michael Turner and his wife: Ashley; and Jason Alan York and his wife: Rachel; and by her great-grandchildren: Peyton Turner, Lane Turner, Josie Turner, Hank Turner and Brayleigh York.

She will also be missed by her half-sister: Patricia (Otter) Jones of Liberty, Kentucky; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws: Larry and Virginia Turner of Florence; Frank and Peggy Turner of Rising Sun; Vandora Stuard of Rising Sun; Rita and Jack Waltz of North Vernon, Indiana; and Judy Turner Weston of Milton, Kentucky; and her several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Royland A. “Roll” and Daisy (McFarland) Otter; by her husband: Stanley Lee “Ike” Turner, who died on May 17th, 2003; by her sisters: Betty Jean Adams, who died on June 3rd, 2008; and Anna Ruth Holdcroft, who died on July 16th, 2015; her nephews: George Bryant Adams, who died on February 16th, 2014; and Royland L. “Tom” Skirvin, who died on March 18th, 2016; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Harry Turner, Donnie Turner, Warren Turner, Paul Scudder, Lionel Turner and Wilma “Sis” Turner.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 10th, 2016, at 1 p.m., by Reverend Mike Barnes, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 10th, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Andrew Murafski

Andrew Joseph Murafski, 26, of Rising Sun, passed away at 8:36 p.m. on Thursday, November 3rd, 2016, at Forest Park in Hamilton County, Ohio.

Andrew was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 22nd, 1990, the son of Cynthia (Votaw) and Andrew Murafski. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 2008.

Andrew was a machinist apprentice at Faxon Machining in Fairfield, Ohio. Andrew enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he loved to be outside as much as he could. Andrew was also a former bull rider.

Andrew is survived by a daughter, Abbygail Murafski; by his parents Andy and Cindy Murafski of Rising Sun; by a sister, Alexis Bruce (Colton) of Rising Sun; by a brother, Josh Murafski (Megan) of Rising Sun; by grandparents: Joseph and Jackie Votaw of Aurora, Indiana; Jerry and Barbara Bondurant of Rising Sun; and Dick and Linda Knose of Rising Sun.

He is also survived by his niece Avery and his nephew Maddox; and by his fiancee, Heather Woodruff of Rising Sun.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 7th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Friends were invited to call on the family on Monday prior to the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial was at Rising Sun New Cemetery.

Michael West

Michael Kevin West, age 57, of Vevay, passed away at 10:09 a.m. on Monday, November 7th, 2016, at his residence.

Michael entered this life on March 30th, 1959, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late James Sylvester and Irene Una (McClinton) West. He was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended school.

Michael resided in the Vevay community for the past three months. Michael enjoyed listening to music and watching the traffic go by every day.

Michael will be missed by his daughters: Amy Knight of Cincinnati, Ohio; Jennifer West of Cincinnati, Ohio; Samantha West of Cincinnati, Ohio; Kylee Crouse of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Carrie Orourke of Cincinnati, Ohio; and by his son: Michael Kevin West, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio.

He will also be missed by his sisters: Karen Backus of Rising Sun; Sue West of Lawrenceburg; Melissa Butler of Greendale, Indiana; and Shannon Courtney of Moores Hill, Indiana; his brother: Bob West of Deer Park, Ohio; and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James Sylvester and Irene Una (McClinton) West and his sister: Melinda Ann Katherine Bradford, who died on January 8th, 2015.

A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, November 11th, 2016, at 11 a.m. by Chaplain Tammy Moore at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, November 11th, prior to the beginning of the service at the funeral home.
