Robert Lamson

Robert D. “Bob” Lamson, age 86, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017, at the Community North Hospital Indianapolis, Indiana.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana.

Mallie York

Mallie I. York, 83, of Rising Sun, passed away at 3:53 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017 at Hospice of Blue Ash, Ohio.

Mallie was born in Perry County, Kentucky on August 27th, 1934, the daughter of the late Gertrude (Troxell) and Millard L. Wagers.

She was the wife of John York. They married on April 19th, 1952 at Walkertown, Kentucky.

She worked for Foodway Market, Frostproof, Florida for over 15 years. She also worked as a clerk at Tandy’s IGA for the last several years, where she enjoyed talking to the customers and was known for her cheerful disposition. Mallie was a member of the Rising Sun First Baptist Church and her faith was a big part of her life. She enjoyed reading her Bible, along with gardening and taking care of her flowers.

In addition to her loving husband, John, Mallie is also survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Dennis) Wurzelbacher, of Ross, Ohio; by two sons: Danny (Apryle) York, of Ross, Ohio and John (Mary) York, of Oxford, Ohio; by grandchildren: Naomi Rolfes, Mary Jane Gilpin, Jessica (Sean) Gardner, Amanda (Brad) Schaffer, Ken Wurzelbacher and Andrew (Andrea) Wurzelbacher; and by 19 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters: Mildred Slaven of Whitley City, Kentucky and Sharon Betsill of Hampton, Georgia; by three brothers: Nick Wagers of Orlando, Florida, Johnny Wagers of Keavey, Kentucky, and Kenny Wagers of Sylvania, Georgia.

Mallie was preceded in death by her parents; by brothers: Albert, Walter, Franklin and Raleigh Wagers; and by sisters: Clarissa Fugate, Carolyn Sue Smith and by infant sisters, Carma Jewell and Nancy Dale.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 2nd at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Reverend Jim Jenkins officiating. Visitation was held on Sunday, October 1st, at the funeral home. Burial was at Arlington Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Richard ‘Rocky’ Hutchinson

Richard Raymond “Rocky” Hutchinson, Jr., 69, of Patriot, passed away on Sunday, October 1st.

Rocky was born on August 14th, 1948, the son of Rosa Lee (Boggs) and Richard Raymond Hutchinson, Sr. He graduated from Patriot High School with the Class of 1967.

Rocky married Pamela Sue Fisk on March 1st, 1968, and to this union arrived two sons: Richard Lee Hutchinson on April 18th, 1971 and William Dale Hutchinson on August 22nd, 1980, to bless their home.

Rocky entered the U.S. Army on May 29th, 1969. He achieved the rank of Specialist E5 and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Rocky was honorably discharged on June 1st, 1974.

Rocky was employed by Schenley Distillery of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, for 15 years; and then by Sun Chemical of Cincinnati, Ohio until his retirement. Rocky enjoyed working the land on his farm “Rocky Acres” on Searcy Ridge to make a homestead for his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons on the property. He and Pam took pleasure in entertaining many friends and family there.

Rocky was also an avid golfer and enjoyed playing many rounds with his brother Carl. Spending time with his high school sweetheart Pamela was one thing he loved most. Rocky was baptized as a youth at Aberdeen Methodist Church and was a member of the Aberdeen Methodist Church; the Belle River Masonic Lodge #327; and the Rising Sun American Legion Post #59. Rocky attended the Patriot Baptist Church.

Rocky is survived by his loving wife Pam of Patriot; by two sons: Richie Hutchinson of Patriot and Will Hutchinson and his wife Danielle of Patriot; by four grandchildren: Justice, Lucas, Olivia and Ava; by his brother Carl Hutchinson and his wife Betty Shon, of Patriot; by his sister Rose Herrick of Williamstown, Kentucky; by his sister-in-law Linda Fisk, of Patriot and by his brother-in-law David Fisk and his wife Connie, of Patriot.

Rocky was preceded in death by his parents; by an infant son; by his brother Terry Hutchinson; by his caregiver as a child Margaret Boggs; by his in-laws Bill and Peggy Fisk; by his sister-in-law Penny Fisk; and by his brother-in-law Tim Fisk.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 4th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 4th prior to the beginning of the services at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside services will be at Eastview Cemetery in Patriot.

Lucy Branson

Lucy J. (Gullion) Branson, age 92, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Vevay, passed away at 2:08 p.m. on Friday, September 29th, 2017, at the Hospice of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

Lucy entered this life on August 31st, 1925, in Carrollton, Kentucky, the loving daughter of the late John Scott and Faye (Banta) Gullion. She was raised in Switzerland County, and attended Vevay High School.

Lucy was united in marriage on September 26th, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, to Lyle “Red” Branson, and to this union arrived a son, Timothy to bless their home. Lucy and Red shared nearly 52 years of marriage together until he passed away on March 28th, 1999.

Lucy was a former Para Professional for the Dayton Board of Education in Dayton, Ohio, retiring after 19 years of service. Lucy was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible in Dayton, Ohio. She resided for the past 75 years in the Dayton, Ohio community.

Lucy will be deeply missed by her son, Timothy Wayne Branson of Dayton, Ohio; her sister, Betty S. Gullion of Dayton, Ohio; and her numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Scott and Faye (Banta) Gullion; her husband of nearly 52 years, Lyle “Red” Branson, who died on March 28th, 1999; her brothers: James, John, Thomas, Paul, George and Ernest Gullion; and her sisters: Martha Young, Anna Ayler and Mary Kay Scudder.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 5th, at the First Church of the Open Bible, 4990 Troy Pike Dayton, Ohio, 45424; and from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, October 6th, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 6th, at 11 a.m., by Pastor Gary Peterson at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery.

Bettie Jo Gullion

Bettie Jo Rook Gullion, age 94 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 2nd, 2017 at Tanner Medical Center Carrollton.

She was born April 20th, 1923 in Vevay, the daughter of the late James Fredrick Rook and the late Bessie L. Furnish Rook.

She was a retired banker with American Fletcher National Bank in Indianapolis, Indiana; a member of the Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority; and she was Methodist by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Gullion.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law: Emily and Steve Pedlow of Ellijay, Georgia and Linda and Rick Bohannon of Carrollton, Georgia; sons and daughter-in-law: Mark and Jeanne Gullion and John Gullion, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; and by a sister, Helen Marie Lock Nelson and her husband, Darwin, of Rozwell, New Mexico.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Rob Suddarth of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lee Bohannon of Bowdon, Georgia; Julia Anderson of Largo, Florida; Michael Pedlow of Austin, Texas; Amy Prestridge of Carrollton, Georgia; Christopher Gullion of Avon, Indiana; Amanda Davis of Tarpin Springs, Florida; Jamie Hobbick of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Melissa White of Avon, Indiana; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 11th, at 2 p.m. at the Vevay Cemetery.

Geneva Scotti

Geneva Louise (Monroe) Scotti, age 96, of Vevay, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Monday, October 2nd, 2017, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.

Geneva entered this life on August 16th, 1921, in Switzerland County, the loving daughter of the late Harry and Nell (Croxton) Monroe. She was raised in Switzerland County, and was a 1939 graduate of the Vevay High School.

Geneva was united in marriage on March 9th, 1946, to Charles Robert Leap and to this union arrived a son, John Charles; and a daughter, Saundra Kay to bless their home.

Geneva was later united in marriage in 1963 to Anthony R. “Tony” Scotti, and they were blessed with a daughter, Tonia Lee.

She was an inker for the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay, retiring in 1985, after 27 years of service. Geneva was a member of the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church in Vevay, where she was the church pianist. She was also a member of the Vevay Music Club and resided her entire life in the Switzerland County community. Geneva will be remembered for her love of sewing, music and her family.

Geneva will be deeply missed by her son, John Charles Leap and his wife: Tootie of Vevay; her daughters: Saundra Kay Adams and her husband Kenneth of Bennington and Tonia Lee Smith and her husband Roger of Bennington; by her grandchildren: Charles Anthony Leap, Billy Jo Leap, Shane Adams, Crystala Adams, Ashlee Dawn Goins, Boyd Scotti Smith, Hailee Renee Otter, Trevor Michael Smith, Kristy Smith, Robert Kindle, Angela Brockman and Jerry Girton; and by her great-grandchildren: Jacob Leap, Justin Leap, Owen Leap, Leeland Goins, Kenadie Knapp, Hayden Smith, Paxton Smith, Oaklyn Otter, Kainen Smith and Anna Andrews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Nell (Croxton) Monroe; her first husband, Charles Robert Leap, who died on August 16th, 1980; her second husband, Anthony R. “Tony” Scotti, who died on June 25th, 1997; her step-mother, Helen Monroe; her step-father, Jess Le Clerc; her daughter-in-law, Delores A. “Sissy” Jones Leap, who died in 2000; and her great-granddaughter, Bailee Jean Smith, died March 12th, 2015.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 5th, at 10:30 a.m., by Pastor Sandy Marlin, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends were invited to call on the family on Wednesday, October 4th, at the funeral home.
